My buddy says that he uses magnum large rifle primers for all his reloads, like 300-06, 270's etc..
I hadn't heard of this before.
What do you guys think or use???
I do it all the time, I'm not really sure why because I don't really see an advantage. they say to back your load off a grain or so and work back up if you switch to a mag primer, I didn't see much change there either but on a hot load you might.
bigger spark to light all of the powder. I would recommend backing down a bit rather than starting right at max. I would not recommend it but some do not see a difference. I guess it all depends on who you ask!
I use them in my late fall and winter hunting loads, when it is -23 on late season cow elk hunts. Just somthing I learned up in Alaska.
I also worked the load up at the range when it was +10 to -20. found out that the first load was way off when the barrel was that cold( barrel was alot stiffer).
