NFL great, broadcast icon John Madden dies at 85

Hall of Fame coach-turned-broadcaster John Madden, whose exuberant calls combined with simple explanations provided a weekly soundtrack to NFL games for three decades, died Tuesday morning. He was 85.

I watched the special last night before I went to bed. He looked happy and healthy when they was producing the show.

He accomplished much in life and was loved by millions. He was funny and great to watch on TV. He had the respect of his piers and rose to the top of his profession. But, he was a “Raider”.

In the 80's I was doing a construction job in San Ramon and at lunch I was going over the the Wendy's to get a hamburger. And there was Madden getting one or two himself. LOL
Great guy funny thing was that he had worn a path to Wendy's through some bushes that looked well used......
He would talk football to anyone especially Raider football.
