Low poundage bow question.

I had torn rotator cuff surgery 2 months ago and hope to shoot a VERY low lbs. bow soon.

I am looking for options at my draw length 29". I need to start around 30lbs but would like to find a bow I can change the draw weight on and hate to put a fortune into it since my pray to shoot more lbs as I recover.

For $150 I can get low lbs limbs for one of my old Mathews bows. This may be the best options.

Any suggestions appreicated,

Archer

Sounds like the Genesis bow might be a good option:

This is a bow I bought for my daughter. Peak weight is only 20 lbs and it does not have a "let-off". You would be holding 20 lbs at full draw. The nice thing about it is that it is a consistent weight throughout the entire draw length, so you won't have to pull harder to get through a peak weight and would be holding 20 lbs at full draw if you cranked it up all the way. The other nice thing is that there is no set draw length. Goes from 15-30 inches, so kids and grownups can use it. Might be able to pick up a used one on ebay and then sell it when you are ready to move up.

Good luck with the rehab and the drawings!

I tend to agree. To start shooting again you may want to try a Genisis bow. I know they got a newer model that the draw weight may go a little higher, but not much. I know they're marketed for kids, but the bowshop that I'm buying one for my daughter said that I could shoot it myself.

For the $150 that you could buy new limbs, you might consider a Genesis bow for 'rehab' purposes until you're ready to draw your bow at the lowest draw weight, then sell the Genesis. I know the resell value should be good.....they are popular bows.

i had rotator cuff surgery as well this summer. i may be dumb, but in 3 months i was shooting my 70 pound bow. it got tired quick, but fealt great. it may have been early but my pt said it was okay. i am 22 and in college wrestling, it might be harder for someone a bit older i suppose (no offense) however, dont tear it out and dont worry you will be back in no time
good luck

I am 9 weeks in and not even close to shooting. May never. My should has TONS of scar tissue and they are trying to break that loose.

You were VERY lucky to be back shooting even close to that weight in a year.
