"Los" Lakers, "El" Heat...

I noticed this was happening on the NBA jersey's and didn't really think much of it. Tonite the Lakers or "Los Lakers" are playing the Suns...or "Los Suns". Can someone explain this to me? Why?

It's some bullchit if you ask me!! NBA trying to celebrate mexican heritage as if there's a bunch of mexican players...HomoJ must be proud!!

A lot of teams are doing Cultural Heritage nights and months too. They have had Serbian heritage night in Portland, German heritage night in Dallas, and almost all the teams served green beer on St. Patrick's day.

Really - we live in a very diverse country. The NBA is just trying to reach all of them and attract fans.

Not a big deal if you ask me.

Roy, I hear ya dude. Not really that big of a deal to me either but it slightly bothers me they have to wear jerseys with fake names on them...if I was a player I'd be annoyed wearing a fake name on my jersey.

It wouldn't bug me if it happened once. I've seen it waaaaay too many times for it not to bother me. Why as Americans do we need to "celebrate" any other heritage but our own? If the NBA wants to attract Mexican fans...or any other fans at that, do what the UFC does and go put a show on in THEIR house. The way our country is with anything Hispanic and how we are supposed to be so accepting of it drives me nuts. Its like saying that it is ok for the government to tell us we can't shoot any of our guns on the first Monday of the month. Big deal, right? Its that foot in the door mentality that bothers me. Look where this country is now with illegals and how much of OUR money is given to them? It's easy to say that it's only names on a jersey....but I beg to differ.

Wiz I agree with what you said and they do send teams to THEIR house (Europe, China, Brazil, ect) but they DON'T DARE send em to Mexico so this is the NBA's way of dealing with it...

Every illegal needs to do us a favor and take one of these...
