Looking for pigs in Central CA

Im looking for a place in the pine flat or tohlhouse area for archery pigs if anyone knows of any ranches that might want a few less pigs.

DDY,
Been looking myself since I moved to SoCal last month. I'd even be willing to pay a little to hunt someone's land.

www.birdsandboars.com or call your local archery shop. Many shops do semi-guided hunts on the Tejon Ranch.

You will have a VERY tough time finding decent hog hunting on public land and most good ranches are already tied up with guides and outfitters. You will have to open your wallet, knock on a ton of doors, and/or spend may unproductive days afield to even find some old sign on public land. I went through this process many years ago and came to the conclusion that my time is very valuable and I'm better off hiring a guide or paying for access. I also think it is more far cost effective in the long run.

Normally Tejon Ranch is a great place to hunt but it's off to a bad start this year. Hopefully it will get better when things dry up a little and the hogs are near water. Haven't hunted other ranches or public land areas.

I would have to go with the rest of the guy's and say Tejon. I am going in 2 weeks. I belong to a bowhunting club and we book a weekend each year. So far, knock on wood, I haven't not shot a pig. The last was 265lb and 3 1/2" showing. The guides are also club members. Great palce to hunt ans when things slow down, take it to them instead. Good Luck.

ddy58,
The areas of which you speak are mainly private ranches, which do not allow hunting. Those who recommend Tejon Ranch are giving you good info.
If you come over to the coast around Paso Robles and Parkfield you will be amazed at the amount of wild pigs... There are loads of good guides and ranches that gladly allow paid hunting. Good luck!

Im not looking to pay to shoot pigs. Ive heard ranchers in the Pine Flat area will let people hunt for free.

If you find private ranches that allow pig irradication for free, please let me know... I will be glad to help curb those pesky porkers.

What about those of us who are willing to pay a nominal fee? Any advise? Or Guides you can recommend. I just moved to Fresno first of April. Need to kill something...lol!
thanks for the help!

PDUB, I am very sorry to hear that you just recently moved to Fresno. I lived there most of my life, in the Tarpey Village area and hated every minute of it. Now I live in the foothills north east of there in the Tollhouse that DDY58 is asking about. I have heard of a ranch that let one of my friends kill pigs off of, but his contact to the ranch moved and he can't get on there anymore. I know that I would like to hear if anybody finds a place around here that will let you kill pigs. If you do let me know and lets go!!! Good luck!! Muledeernut
