Looking for a match

My buddy has been spending some quality family time watching some deer in the Weber county area of N. UT, and his daughter was the lucky finder of a good shed off one of the bucks. We've spent a considerable amount of time trying to help her get a match. The missing shed has a nice frame with a cool little point at rhe base. He wanted me to post this and see if anybody that has watched this might have found the left side.

YELUM,

I would hope any man on here who sees that cute little girl holding that shed, and that smile on her face, would turn it right over... How could you not? Its almost not fair to have her in the photos, it makes me feel guilty and I dont even have the shed!

Hey Larry, thank you for helping my daughter try to match up her first shed, we really appreciate it and I look forward to many more shed seasons with you and my family.

Hey, glad to see you join up. Figures that you would wait till I did all the work posting pics. lol Best of luck. Maybe if the storms ever quit and it dries up we can give it another shot.

Awesome shed. Definitely let's help her with the other side.
Nothing like getting the young interested in shed collecting.
Good for her.

Best of luck matching it up to at least see what he was. It might take a little luck to get some to answer.

Never underestimate the importance some guys put on a shed antler. I took my 9 year old and wife out to the Book Cliffs 3 years ago. We were hiking around and my son found his first shed- a year old white 4 point, maybe 75" antler. 15 minutes later we run into a mid-20s guy, clean cut decent looking fellow. He had the match to my son's antler, a 65" 3 point. I offered to buy it from him, just so the kid could have a match to make the day better. The guy said he wasn't interested in selling his year old, cracked antler. If the tables were turned I would have offered it to a kid for free- probably would have included a candy bar from my pack. Some guys put WAAAAYYYYYY too much importance on an piece of bone.

No doubt about it....I hope whoever has it would give it to the kid.
Agree many do put too much into value on sheds but a kid guaranteed would appreciate it more and for a longer amount of time. Priceless actually.
Yelum your a class act as well in my book and many more people would be better off if they had the integrity you have.
Best,
Jerry

Well thank you Knack. That was a hell of a nice thing to say.

I hope we can turn it up for her. If it ever stops raining and dries up, we'll give it a few more shots. Several guys have been watching him but they don't know any of them, or if they've found it. Its alway a long shot, but worth the try. Even if they don't want to let it go, it would be fun to let her hold it for a pic.

Yes that is a Hooper buck I took the liberty of naming him, lefty, as you can see in the picture he has a broken left ear, kind of ironic that's the side we can't find either.

May have a possible lead on the left side! Keep your fingers crossed and i will post as soon as I get some more accurate information, possibly wednesday, I sure hope the rumor is true and I can put this buck together for my daughter. Thanks for all your guys help and info provided.

Still no luck matching him up, apparently the guy we thought had it doesn't, maybe it's still laying out there, can't give up until I know for sure its off the ground!

Well I had a dream last night and I saw the left side laying on the ground, so I went out and looked in the same spot in the dream with no luck, damn I wish the dream would have came true, if anyone has info on this deers left I would like to hear it if possible, needing all the help we can get, thanks guys

come on guys i know someone has to know something about the other side, this deer was killed this year and im really hoping some one could point in the right direction to get the left side so i can mount it up for my daughter. thanks again, good luck in the up coming season of shed hunting

That's totally fine if they do want to keep it but i would like to know if any one picked it up or if its still out there, im not asking for any one to just give it to me i would like to buy it or i would like to get a replica made if possible, Thanks

If both of you go out and have a replica made of your side you could trade and each have a set, unfortunately its going to cost you about a grand to have them both replicated...

the pictures of the buck in the original post look too blury to make it easy to identify a 4 point... does it have any kickers off the left side, i picked up 4 horns last year in that area and 3 of them were 4 point or better, one of the 5 point horns i picked up is a left

Shadow, you can't see it in the pics, but it has a extra point coming off near the burr of the left side, that is 2-3 inches long.

Thanks for the picture Larry, Shadow, if you look at the bottom picture that was just posted you can see a little kicker coming off by the burr and the broken ear, his left side has a longer back end but a shorter beam then on the right, let me or YELUM know what you think and if you may have the other half, i am very interested in putting them together. Thanks

Well still trying to match him up any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks

What makes you so sure its not still out there laying in the weeds?I have POUNDED an area trying to find a match only to stumble on it the next year or even two years later in some nook or cranny I didnt check.

Yeah i wondered that also, im not sure it is picked up but hoping if someone does have it could find out, i still tromp around out there hoping to find it. thanks

When I match up a set a year later its often much farther from the 1st shed than I searched.

yeah, i will have to widen my search , i will have to grid the whole surrounding areas, anythings possible i just keep hoping i can turn it up some how
