Went out to my buddies ranch today to do some long-range practice before our antelope hunt. Hung "Rotella T" jugs filled with water on t-post. We then went up a hill and proceeded to shoot at 200-400+ yards. We had a 15-20 mph crosswind. We did real well out to a little over 330 yards. Past that our wind doping skills need some practice. Lesson-1 learned, get the wind in our face if at all possible. Lesson-2 learned practice more from field positions in crosswinds. Good luck to all you antelope hunters this fall.

I've seen countless wounded antelope from dip$hitz herd shooting in a 30 mph crosswind at 350 yards. It's nice to hear someone know their limits on targets. Good luck.

Our plan is to get to 200 yards or less if possible. We just want to be prepared and know the limitation of ourselves and our gear.

alot of areas where you hunt lopes will allow you to use the prone position with a bi-pod or fanny pack on top of short sage brush. Good way to practice and increase your range for a effective killing shot. Crosswind is a major factor that a lot of hunters fail to take in and end up missing or wounding a game animal. Other hunters should do the type of practice that you are doing to learn their limits and stick to them. Good job towards earning your trophy.
