I am looking for a light weight tripod that is stable enought for a swarovski sts 80. right now I have a manfrotto 3001BD with the Manfrotto 390RC2 pan head. I like this tripod setup but it seems to be a bit heavy to carry to far from the truck. any suggestions? other then sack up and carry the tripod.

Take a look at the Velbon LUXi F. It is about 2 lbs, closes to 18", opens to 4' and is a very sturdy unit with a triple level fluid head @ $119.99. Please feel free to call me to discuss it.
If there is anything else that I can assist you with please let me know.

Slik Carbon Pro 713! B&H photo for around $249.00. Great light weight tripod that adjusts high enough to glass in the standing position. If you don't need to stand then get the Pro 613. Great tripods. Just google B&H photo.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-27-06 AT 08:00PM (MST)[p]The K & K Tripod out of Oregon is by far one of the best for the money. Light weight 3.2 lbs. w/pistol grip head and quick release. 6 different models with adjustable legs or without. Black or camo finishes. Heights up to 65" and priced from $235.00 to $325.00. The pistol grip head holds up to 12 lbs. (I know that it holds 10 lbs. for sure- I use them for a pair of 40x80 doctor asprectrum bino's)
They pack in there own case down to 14.5 in.
If you want to know more, let me know? I can hook you up!
These are awesome!
