lifegaurd gets billed

Getting a bill doesn't equate to legal responsibility for payment. Most states have good Samaritan laws to protect individuals making good faith efforts to save others. At 17, the lifeguard was also probably not recognized by Oregon state law as being contractually bound, even if he did at some point sign for the boy to receive services. I would think the parents of the boy would just pick up the bill, even if they didn't think the ambulance ride and ER visit was necessary. I'm wondering where they were when the boy was out in water and being rescued...
