leupold spotting scope

I am thinking about getting a new Leupold gold ring spotting scope for the size and weight factors. I was wondering if there is a significant difference in the regular gold ring scope and the HD version. I guess what I am asking is it worth the extra $300 for the HD? THanks for any info. you can provide

I've had the regular one for a few years and am less than impressed with it.

I had the regular and a pentax pf65 at the same time. I thought the Pentax was a much sharper scope for less $. But my Leupold was several years old too.

For backpacking I like the leupold.
