Leaving Friday for 45 elk

Heading out Friday for my buddy’s 45 elk tag. We have four areas mapped out hopefully away from roads and people. I know there’s lots of elk in the unit but what’s a guy hold out for 320/330 caliber bull or are those days gone?

Definitely some shooters but I would punch my tag on the first 280+ bull I saw

Small unit once you take the private ground out if it. Not sure your season dates but I’d be going as late as possible. Those elk stay up high on private ground as long as the weather lets them. And it’s pretty nice here’s right now

We are rolling now going to give it a week. Then come back later if needed.

We did took a nice little 5x5 the last day we could hunt. My buddy had his daughter along so made it a great trip. Saw lots of but mostly all on private or land locked by private. We truly never saw a bull over 300-310. This little bull was on the hit list just because he was all black I first thought it was mud but no he was black.

Good trip over all and we did make some contacts for this year if one of the girls draw the tag.
