The LDS has officially dropped Boy Scouts.
What do you all think of that.
It was once a great program but all the Political Correctness has just became too much.

glad to see it. I told my wife last night we need to pull our boys out. First they let gay leaders, now this. See ya

+1 I can't believe this happened

Ya after 20 plus years in scouts. Maybe I will finally get released. :) :) Just glad my boys are done with the program and have their eagles. It's really to bad for the kids coming up. Its a good program, or was !

The Scouts pretty well got destroyed, which was the goal in the first place. Self sufficiency is discouraged in a socialist society.

5 years ago I would have shed a Tear or two, today I say Amen and about time. I wouldn't count on getting released just retitled as the church already has the Duty to God program. I'm wondering what will happen to all of the camps. I hope the church gets the opportunity to own some of them.

The progressive agenda has about ruined and ripped everything traditional apart. I agree they do not want self independence for the citizens of USA but more than that the progressive especially do not want boys turning into men.

I quit Scouts when our Troop got consumed by the local Mormon Church, Their adgenda went well beyond scouting. I suppose that would have been better than what Scouting has become.

The current (degraded) values of Boy-ish (LGTBQSIND) Scouting are no longer the values on which Boy Scouts was built. No wonder there are those who are pulling out of the program.

Bean, you can get back in now!

I can understand your feelings about the LDS faith being too involved with your troop but the local faith that is over the scouting program wither LDS,Lutheran, Baptist,Methodist or a non denomination was the values to be held by as long as it was boys not girls or transgender.

I have served in some capacity in Boy Scouts for over 35 yrs., and at 71 yrs. old I'm still a Scoutmaster of the local Troop. We are working on our 68th year of the local community birthday/anniversary calendar, have participated in food drives coordinated with the local religious denominations and the schools. Our troop has been active in many community service projects (delivering firewood, clearing snow off cars, shoveling walks, weed and debris clean-up (yard work). The LDS Church has picked up the tab on registrations, Boys Life subscriptions, 50% to 100% of Summer Camp Fees, transportation costs to and from camp, food and gear for those who had none or whose parents couldn't afford it, discounted camp physicals, Cub Scout award costs and much more through our Scout Committee. It will remain to be seen if anyone else has the wherewithal, funds, manpower, inclination to continue with the Charter; I have sincere doubts for the history of such a storied program in our area. For example, TWO of my current Scouts, I was their GRANDPA's cub den leader or cubmaster! And some of my most memorable experiences have been to BSA's Wood Badge camp, and numerous spring/summer/fall/winter camps, merit badge powwows/high adventures, Cub pack meetings along the way. Very SAD to see what is becoming of something so dear to my heart!:-(

I am currently the Scout Committee Chairman..
The running joke is how some of the boys wait until right before they turn 18 to finish up their Eagle.
I guess now we will have an 18 month sprint to wrap thing up.

NVPete All them years and you never killed or maimed anyone. (just pulling your chain)
Hats off to you NVPete! You will be blessed for all the service to your community and many responsibly men you help developed.
Thanks
All them years if you got any good war stories please share.

I will share a couple for ya. Many years ago (1980), I had a troop of boys out camping near a lake. At the time I was a LEO and a Park Ranger, so I guess I should have been setting a better example than just being a Scoutmaster. Well, in the creek below the lake was a pool, and the boys were busy catching tadpoles. Well, I joined them, and knee-deep water, I reached under a rock, and pulled out what I thought was a sucker, but it turned out to be a nice rainbow trout! Well, the boys thought that was cool, and they tried their hand at it. We ended up with several trout for dinner!
Back at work on Monday, the F&G office was adjacent to ours, and the warden was a friend. When I relayed our adventures, he wasn't too impressed. Oops! It seems that you must catch game fish in our state by hook and line attached to a pole! So, I had to backtrack and explain to my Scouts that what we had done was illegal! Lesson learned by all of us!
Btw, never lost or had major injuries, although once while encamped in the Tetons along the Snake River, I hadn't thoroughly checked the boys to see if their tents were pitched safely. Two scouts had pitched their tent in a sandy wash, and a heavy rain at 2am actually floated the boys on their mattresses out of their tent!! The whole troop got pretty wet and muddy rescuing the boys and relocating them to higher ground in a driving rain!! :)
