Just doing a little catch and release! Yes in the park. I wish everyone would be as carefull to put them back where they lay as we are. We found several piles where some dip stick had left them after looking at them. Most of the bone we find we never even touch but some are picture worthy.Saw over 100 live bulls too!

The memories and pictures are worth the pain!!!
It's certainly not worth being a thief and a lier to sneak them out! A thief because it's against the law to take them and a lier every time you tell someone where you found them!

Did you know its illegal to even pick them up (not pack out) in the park? Its in the regs and ive seen people ticketed.

The law reads it's illegal to transport antlers, so in the strictest sence even picking them up could be illegal. It certainly is to haul them around leave them in a pile or anywhere other than where they lay. Once in a while when we see a set laying close together we will pick them up for a picture making sure to lay them right where they were found, even in the same position! If thats illegal prove that these pictures come from the Park and throw me in jail! What the hell good is it to set apart this natural space if we can't even walk through it to see what the Good Lord has made! I am gratefull for every minute I have spent hiking through the back country of Yellowstone National Park!

I take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but foot prints! If thats against the law what the hell is the park for!!!

i've done the same thing with my family. it's fun.

thanks for the pics of the rodent food I also enjoy seeing/photoing!

I would like to do the same some day, probably around the Roosevelt lodge area.
This park shedding isn't that new to us shed forum users, hoofsandhorns posts pictures of sheds from his favorite park in Canada.
Thanks for sharing your adventure.

Looking at the sheds and the live elk in the park is something I look foreward to all year. I have been blessed with a wife that wants to be there as much as I do. We have spend 8 days in the park this year. I thank GOD for the foresight of our forefathers to set aside this land for us to spend time in! Just picture how sad it would be to have mansions and fences and roads covering the Lamar valley! We need places like this not just another Jacksons Hole for the rich to fight over!

I asked several rangers once about "why" the biggest antlers are usualy not there the next year when we come back. There responce was predictable. Oh some of them get stolen because we don't have the man power to catch all the theives and well some of them do get used for "educational purposes" As I pondered what those educational purposes might be I hoped that it wasn't his daughters college education fund he was talking about!
