This is a set I picked up last spring. I put it on a Mt. Mikes skull today just to give them a new look. He is really heavy, too bad he broke both of his left fronts off. They were laying side by side when i found them.

Sweet finds. I am glad to see the mountain mikes worked out for ya. I have been looking into doing one of those for a while.

looks like they have great color too.

looks good, I have some white tail sheds Id like to try that with.

They are Utah sheds. My name is kind of decieving, it is actually the names of my dogs put together. Dakota and Sage.

I actually stained the horns using Special walnut. After I stain them, I sand them with light sand paper to lighten up the high ridges. I do that to any of the good whites I find. The other thing I do before I stain them, is coat the whole antler in clear Polyeurothane. The antler soaks in all of the polyeurathane and you don't get the dark effect that happens if you just put stain directly on the antler. If you don't use the polyeurathane, or some kind of wood conditioner, the stain is way to dark, and you can't lighten up the ridges with sanding.
