Landowner tags

How does the state determine who qualifies for a land owner tag?

If I remember correctly in NM its based on the number of animals that stay on your property for a certain percentage of the year. I could be completely wrong here.

Wyoming requires minimum acreage and animal use days. Game wardens determine if landowners qualify.
160 contiguous acres and 2,000 animal use days.

Thanks, thats what I was looking for.

....and only the landowner and his immediate family can use them....they are not for sale.

Not looking to buy any. Was looking at some land for sale

LAST EDITED ON Aug-14-17 AT 09:11PM (MST)[p]The property must have 2,000 use days for a species for the land to qualify for landowner licenses for that species.

Up to 2 tags, for immediate family or if in a Corp or partnership same 2 tag max for one property.
I assume you know how to figure animal use days.

I know a nice big ranch for sale with great mule deer and elk in general area, bighorn sheep too.

I may be wrong but I think in LQ areas landowners have a quota too and there may be a drawing if more landowners than the set aside quota.
JTM may know this answer better.

There is no set aside quota for landowners in LQ areas. Landowner drawing is first, if there are more landowner applications, than tags in the area, all licenses go to landowners. Don't think that happens anywhere in the state. In most areas, landowners account for less than 10% of total quota.

I don't believe there is a quota for them because I've heard of LQ units with a very limited amount of tags where landowners actually got them all and there was no draw for the rest of us!
