well it was a tough hunt this year had to work hard to find them and when this fat forky came by i couldnt turn it down plus i had my 11 year old son with me for the first time so i he got to watch dad smoke him.he thanked me at dinner tonight over those great steaks. if some can give me there email i will post a couple of pictures.

in the 4 days i was there i seen 8 deer that were killed and also the game and fish had to pick up a nice 4 by 4 some idiot shot in the back of the head with a 22 cal then left it on the side of the road.this was the worst year i have seen in the bab for the archery hunt the deer were really held up tight and just wernt moving much.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-21-06 AT 01:59PM (MST)[p]I shot a huge 4x4 opening morning around 730am. I thought I missed because the arrow zipped right past him. I second guess myself because I was having problems with these new arrows I got but I used one of my old ones first. Well I never looked for my arrow and I thought I lost him. Five days later I find my arrow with hair on it with no blood. I retraced every move that day and low and behold I found a blood trail. I followed it as far as I could but unfortunately I never found him. He was the biggest buck that would have been havested that season. He was with 7 other bucks. One brute being at least 31 inches.

hey sneek as soon as i get home i will send you the pictures to post so look for them around 6 tonight.blacknight i always look after a shot to make sure there was not a hit even if you know you missed head right out and find the arrow to make sure. and if you do hit a buck and loose blood figure the path the buck was taking and look back to see if he is keeping a patern to follow and start your search 90% of the time you will find them 100 yds or less from last blood piled up, we helped a guy out this past weekend i stayed at the last blood studing any tracks and the direction he came from, well we kept a strait line and found a game trail going across the hill a 100yds later there he was piled up looking for his bed. just some food for thought.

Knight, it sounds like you just knicked him if there was hair but the arrow wasn't bloody. That deer is probably still alive & well. My brother & I had a good time, got into quite a few bucks but they just wouldn't hold still for us! Imagine that. I was dissapointed we didn't see any turkey, I was really looking forward to losing some arrows.

hey az you know i only seen one flock my self and it amazed me usally you get back to the truck with only one or two arrows that are any good, i did manage to get a grouse with my bow that was way cool it was the first time i have ever seen one.

Here is Dale's buck, should be good eating.

Hey sorry buddy, I was away from the PC for all weekend. Good job on the buck! Nothin' better than thumpin' one with the bow.

congrats on the buck hunter1. I know first hand what you mean about having your son there. I got my first mature bull elk this year with my mom right there with me. You just can't put into words the feeling of sharing the experience with someone you love.
