Ran across this photo of my grandpa that I thought you all might enjoy. I wonder if he used his wheeler, trail cams & GPS to locate this dandy. LOL

Well Copper Boy!

Back then the Bucks did average more than 2-3 years old!

30-30's were average Guns!

300 Yard Shots were long shots!

Score didn't really matter that much!

And Big Game Season didn't Run from Mid-August through January/February!

I could go on & on & on & on ............but I won't!

Remember when everywhere in the State had Big Bucks?

Tell you the truth JB I was so far down the pecking order on stuff like that I don't have any idea what happened to that rifle. I do know grandpa had a octagon barrel Win. .22 that a cousin of mine sold for whiskey money.
I've inherited a lot of guns and never sold 1. My personal favorite is my dads M99 .300 Savage with the bullet counter. I know he bought it used when he got back from WWII.

I have so many I've started giving them to my kids with the stipulation they never sell any of them.

Pictures like yours really make me ponder about how they hunted and how their lives were different from ours. Thanks for posting.

People had more grit back then compared to today. Except for the city slickers.

1911...your grandad looks lean and mean enough to run down and hogtie that cat without the use of dogs. Great old photo.

Great B&W pics; they bring back the true essence of hunting.

Compromise, hell! ... If freedom is right and tyranny is wrong, why should those who believe in freedom treat it as if it were a roll of bologna to be bartered a slice at a time?

Jeeps, broncos and scouts were the wheelers of their day and believe me they took them anywhere they could get them and shot out the window or over the hood whenever possible, the "good ole days" had alot less game laws.

Sorry Kilo, stand corrected. Still a great photo and there are still lions in the Spaulding Lake area.
