Mass die offs and extinctions do occur frequently in the grand sceam of things and humans sometimes have nothing to do with it and sometimes there is nothing we can do for them.
This is why the "leave it alone" plan for conservation in reality is a very weak argument. As we isolate herds into smaller and smaller parks where we think perfect management is to keep our hands off, we actually are putting those individuals and species in much greater danger.
