Is it worth upgrading?

I am a Washington hunter and I have not bowhunted in 10 years.

I have an old Martin Lynx 55-70 lb that I have killed a couple elk with. It is a two wheel 50% let off bow.

I am looking at getting back into bowhunting, I am left handed,
what is out there for for lefties? Or should I just stay with what I got?

You need to decide for yourself, but if it were me I would definitely upgrade. Bows have come so far in the last 10 years it is unbelievable. Almost all new bows are available in left handed models.
I bought a new one last spring, and couldn't believe the difference in my old one I had bought just 4 years earlier. Made me wonder how I killed anything with that slow, vibrating, loud, old bow. :)
Good luck.

Do this. Shoot 50 arrows with your old bow. Then go to the bow shop and shoot 50 arrows with a new sample. I'd be very surprised if you walk out without a new bow. Just as one small example, most bows now have at least 70% let-off.

I gotta say its time to give your self something new , upgrade . I agree with both posts above , I believe your gonna freak out once you shoot one of the latest and greatest , smooth , alot less shock , quite , and ALOT FASTER and FLATTER than rigs from the 90s'.....Hoyt , Mathews ,and Bow Tech are my three favorites , but Martin has a new Couger that is supposed to be a good little sucker right out of the box for around $300-$350 . Get you some good stable hunting pins , a nice stablizer and arrow rest and your set , all with out breaking the bank , and a great rig to boot...NMHUNTNUTT

I see lots of good deals on left handed bows on ebay and archerytalk. Not as many of you lefties out there so good prices will be available.

And yes I would upgrade. You'll be amazed at what's available these days. Night and day difference in shootability.

I had been shooting the same bow from 1994 until 2003. I figured it was good enough and I killed several Muleys with it and I shot it well( I thought).
That was until I shot the New at the time Mathews LX. I never shot my old bow as acurately as this new LX and that was after just setting it up without any real fine tuning.

Although the LX has a ways to go to catch up with the old High Country Excaliber, it makes that bow look like junk.

The technology has come so far in the past 10 years I couldn't believe it.
Todays bows are smoother to draw, faster at less draw weight, much more efficient and have hardly any felt handshock.

Try the new bows out and shoot them all. Try to shoot as many of the Bows you can and if possible at the same shop so you can compare them side by side.

You'll want a new one too.
Happy New Year

I am a lefty and I shoot a pse and love it. but theirs so many good bows out there now so its a matter of what you'll like better. compare yours to some of the new ones. I think the ch
oice will be obvious.

Goodluck!!!!

Martin has some great looking bows for 06 and yes if you plan to get serious about your archery hunting go ahead and upgrade. Todays bows are faster, quiter, easier to shoot, and have less recoil. I am currently shooting a Hoyt VTEC for my hunting bow and it is just a slice of heaven. Smooth drawing, hard hitting, and quite as a mouse. Who could ask for anything more?

It is worth the upgrade and if you have any problems finding the left handed bow you can order one from the shop that i work at im sure we can order you whatever you want a mathews bowtech whatever. I would probably go with the bowtech they are a lot faster and user friendly.
