I think I must be insane! Yesterday AM about 4;15, Im in the middle of 3 bulls buggling with chills going up my spine. The sun started peaking up and I looked over under this tree and saw an elk shed.It wasnt a great shed but it was a shed. There were pine cones and needles all over. I thought, I cant make any noise now, but I wanted it, I have to have it! The buggles stoped and I waited a half hour and went and got it. I did the same thing deer hunting with a skull. 12 yrds aawy from A doe and A spike.< Of course we can only shoot bucks here and that skull was more important to me than a spike. Am I crazy???????? Sharlin

heck, shar....welcome aboard....you is 'just one of us'....deep down, we all 'live for march'....the sheds start droppin', and life begins 'a new' for us nuts....care to share a pic of your 'find'? would love to see it...

Thanks Littlefoot! No pics yet.To busy running the archery shop while the boss is gone hunting.Every other moment hunting deer or Elk. When season is over on the first I hope to have lots of pics! Happy hunting!!!!Sharlin

Your not alone. I had the same thig happen this weeked while glassing a bull. I walked about 50 yards get a better vantage point on a bull we were watching, looked in front of me and there was a set so I forgot about the bull and started looking for sheds and found one other old one.

No it is not just you!! Last year on a stock I found my first ever moose horn. I was so happy my brother on the other end of the radio had to remind me what I was doing!!

heh heh. the last two weekends i've bowhunted the mornings and then when it's time to return to camp for mid-day siesta i take a route that i think will produce a shed or two as i head down the mtn...i can't get out of my head those visions of headbones laying in the grass just waiting for me to find them!

same thing kinda happened to me.............

I was elk hunting last fall and found a set of 310 sheds. I was sneeking up on a bull in the process and I said forget the bull because I already had a dandy set of antlers. I ended up spooking him because I was trying to walk quietly with a pack, rifle, and 20lbs worth of antlers. My family thought I was crazy, I thought I was lucky. HEHE

I found two moose sheds bowhunting elk this year. The first one I left because it was pretty messed up by the local squirels. The second one was chewed on a little but not too bad and it has a huge brow tine so I strapped it to my pack and brought it home. The funny thing was I was into the elk when I found both of them. Even during the excitement of having elk close and bugling those sheds sure caught my attention!

Ha, Ha! Glad to see you've got your priorities straight.
