IR Flash vs Regular Flash Cameras and Elk

Common sense says that a game camera with the IR flash is not going to spook game as much as one with a regular flash type.

With that said, I still have quick question for you folks out there who have used a regular flash type game camera for elk.

How do the elk react to the flash? Will they return the second and third time or does it scare the crap out of them and run them out of that area? One of my cameras is that type and I want to use it but don't want to ruin any potentially good spots.

And for future reference, how do they work on bear and deer?

Thanks.

My only added comment would be that thieves may find your cameras easily by seeing a flash. I have IR and I get deer pictures looking right at it. I wondered how... one morning walking in I just happen to look at the right time and saw a red light for a second when taking the picture. I would not have noticed it if I wasn't looking at the exact correct time. However, I believe a flash will attract attention either way.
