...or at least I thought it was.
My buddy called and wanted me to go find sheds for his flower garden. I went to look for turkeys, but thought I would amuse him by looking for horns. I have some sheds, but have just found them here and there while hunting and riding. I found some birds and decided to go for a walk. I found a nice 5 point right off of the bat.
I continued to walk around and found a 3 point. The shed appeared to be 2 years old. I don't know how to guess width of deer from the sheds, but figured he was a 28"-30" deer. The deer also has somewhere (because I am not a scorer and my buddy has the horns for right now) between 7 and 8 inch bases. I thought that was pretty good.
I walked around some more and about a 100 yards away I thought I had found the match. I realized the horns were from the same side and the second one appeared to only be a year old. I am pretty sure these horns are from the same deer, just a year apart. The second one is a big 2 point with again, 7-8 inch bases. I am guessing the deer is old and declining.
The 3 point has 2 eye guards and the 2 point has 4 eye guards.
I have several horns from deer I have shot and none of them are even close to the sheds in terms of mass around the bases.
I am going to get my horns back from my buddy and get a picture. If anyone wants to see these odd horns I will do my best to put a picture up.
