I read the book about these guys a few years ago, crazy on what they accomplished for so long! When he turned in his rifle it didn't have any rust either cause he oiled/cleaned it daily with natural oils he found on the island.

Don't support what Japan did but these guy's are beyond impressive to me for holding out and surviving as long as they did.

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?
 
The Japanese in WWII only knew two outcomes, either win or die. That's why so few Japanese were taken prisoner during the war. (around 5000).

Even after the atomic bombs, the announcement was made in Japan that the war was over, no mention of surrender. A lot of Japanese civilians believed that Japan had won, or had struck some kind of deal, at that point. It took awhile for the defeat to sink in.
