Since getting my 70# Bowtech Pro 40, I have been shooting my ass off!
I freaking love it!
I've since put in for my first archery tag!
I really want to bowhunt big bull elk!
I can't believe how well these newer quality bows shoot.
I've been missing out!

LAST EDITED ON May-20-05 AT 05:20AM (MST)[p]The price was right and it has a very forgiving axle to axle length of 37" for a rookie'
It was new in box for $400.
I also had shot a buddy's and really liked it.

Harry:

I knew you'd be hooked as soon as you got started with it. Big bulls are fun to chase....but so are those velvet covered MonsterMuleys. Have fun.

There's no lookin' back now Harry. Wait until you arrow your first critter....then you really will be hooked for good.

Nice buy!

Good luck with those big bull elk. Should be an exciting first few years for you. I'm still in the mode where if it has horns I'm hunting it. The killing part I haven't figured out yet and it's been way, way too many years :(

That's the cool thing about archery hunting though. All the missed opportunities keep me up there dozens of days every year. I wouldn't trade all those missed ones for anything.

Cheers,
Pete

Congrats Harry, no more pupkins sitting on every ridge, just you all camoed up and elk buggling in the distance.

No, BOHNTR )))----------->

I'm not favored when it come to drawing permits. If you want to come out and hunt a very difficult open bull unit with me, I'd be interested in learning. LOL!

Bugling 6x6's and all, but just can't seem to get it done when it counts.

How about you this year and plans?

Cheers,
Pete

Pete:

Well, I will draw a CO mule deer permit this year. I'll be chasing them for a few weeks in Aug/Sep. I'm still waiting on AZ (like everyone else) to see if they'll give me an archery bull tag. If so, I'll be there the end of September. But, like you, the drawing part is the challenge. :)

I didn't draw anything in your state, points only for Oregon. I will have a few CA tags I can chase blacktails with during the year.

Those open bull units in UT can be tough.....especially where you want to hunt them. I have a feeling you'll stick one of those bad boys soon enough.

Thanx for the offer!
However I'm pretty maxxed out on my vacation time.
I'm hunting local blacktails with my bow from July through Sept.
Then high country blactails with a rifle mid Sept.
Then I'll probably get my Oregon rifle muley tag this year.
After that I'm off to a ranch in Utah to hunt rifle muleys.
Drawing (fluke) an Arizona archery Elk tag could change the mix a bit!

Good to see you made the switch, short of hunting big mule deer there is nothing like the bugle season, flinging sticks is just icing on the cake. Just out of curiosity where in Utah are you going to be chasing muleys

The closeness of the animal and the thrill of slipping an arrow through the vitals can't be beat.

Congratulations on joing a great sport. The first time I ever shot a bow I was also hooked. Nothing compares to being within 50 yards of a rutting bull elk,and that just doesn't happen very often other than archery season. Good luck

Most archery hunters will agree with me when I say,
You aren't truely hooked until you get the shakes.
Welcome to the club ;)
