Now open: Public comment period for draft bighorn sheep management plan 2022-27​

Idaho Fish and Game is seeking comments on its Draft Idaho Bighorn Sheep Management Plan 2022-2027.

Hunters and other interested parties have until Feb. 25 to comment on a draft Idaho Bighorn Sheep Management Plan for 2022-27. The final draft of the plan will be presented to the Fish and Game Commission for their consideration at their March 23-24 meeting in Boise.

The six-year plan includes management direction for the following areas:

• Population Management
• Habitat Management and Climate
• Health and Genetics
• Predation
• Translocation
• Harvest Management

Was wolf & lion hunting a couple weeks ago. In a four-day period. I saw two Bighorn lambs and a fawn deer that were killed by Golden Eagles. Makes you wonder how many Eagles really take a year.

How do you know they were killed by golden eagles? Did you see it happen?

Fresh snow, Eagles on kills, fresh kills with no predator tracks only evidence of Eagles at kills. I guess you could say I saw it happen from seeing the evidence. I always check kills out. Expressly in sheep country. You don't have that scenario very often to be able to be so sure what you're seeing.

Seen some eagles chasing the antelope about a week ago and dive bombing them, not sure but I think I would rather have a dog or cat kill me, couldn’t imagine dying by a beak and spurs couldn’t be fun!!! Either would getting chewed to death but has to better than a beak!!
