Here is a video of some wolves. Wish we would of had a hunting season we could have got a few of these. Smoke a pack a day. It was snowing really had and I couldn't get real good fotage.

I think you used the wrong thing to take a shot of those wolves with. Ha Ha. Thanks for the video, wish there was a season as well.

Just curious where the largest populations of Idaho wolves are.
Lolo?, Sawtooth?
Where would you guys say?

Central Idaho, south south west of the Lolo and Selway.

Bear Valley (north of Lowman) has a big population, too. I talked to an IDFG biologist that told me it's a centralized gathering point. They've trapped some, and removed some by "other means" and they just keep repopulating the area. I used to archery elk hunt near there, until I saw 8 different wolves in one day. Didn't hunt there for a couple years, then went back. No wolves for one season, then in 2009 they were back in force. Got within 80 yards of a young female wolf opening day of 2009 with my bow, and wolf tag in my pocket, but she had me pegged. We stood there and stared at each other for about a minute before she took off. She wasn't really spooked and pretty much just gave me a neener-neener before trotting off. I'm thinking I might have to settle the score when tags become available...

I'd second what KCN says here. Seen more wolves and sign of wolf activity in the the Sawtooth zone than anywhere else. Elk numbers way down and a once healthy moose population pretty much gone near as I can tell. Spend a fair bit of time there and the Lolo zone every year.

I don't know about those other areas named but I can tell you this....I have seen more Wolves in unit 28 than Bulls!
Lets hope another wolf season is in the works for this year!

North of the Clearwater river in the Lolo zone is wolf central with the highest concentration of wolves in Idaho.

I have seen more elk and deer sign in Bear Valley then wolf sign. To be honest I have yet to see a wolf in Idaho, for me they are kinda like a bigfoot, I have heard stories about them but have yet to see one. I moved here in 1997 and just this last summer finally seen my first rattle snake, I played with him, taught him to fetch and then let him go on his marry way.

Freebird....you gotta' get out more. The wolves are EVERYWHERE!

I saw them in three completely different ares this last fall.

Within the shadows, go quietly.

Careful your sounding like me ;^)
