Has anybody here hunted the late archery season in unit 55 southern Idaho? We are planning a hunt there in a couple of weeks, however we have not had the opportunity to scout ahead for this is our first time to hunt this unit. If you have any info. on areas within the unit, roads to take or not to take, any ranchers that will let hunters on the property or any other useful piece of info. no matter how small please post it here.

Thank you,
Colin

Just got back from 55. I saw lots of bucks, but it is a tough hunt. I passed on some smaller 4 points early on and got a shot at a really nice buck at 70 yards. I was 51 yards from a 150 class buck but there was a 180 class deer at 85 and I tried to get closer to him and they all spooked. I should have just shot at the 150 buck. Oh well. I am headed back up next weekend. Try around elba and almo. If you get your spotting scopes out and pick apart the hills you will see plenty of deer. We saw over 200 one day. As the snow deepens the deer move but as for now they are still above the snow line a little bit. I found most deer in 2-12 inches of snow. Good luck
