Well my son drew an Idaho mountain goat tag. Area 36-1. He is a resident and knows a little about the area but I know nothing about it. If anyone would like to share any experience in that area I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm pretty stoked for him. He sounded pretty excited when I talked to him.

I better get my butt in shape. I told him I'm in even it's just to be camp beatch.

NVnative contacted me and said you were a friend of his and your son drew. I have access to some good info on goats in the area as myself and many of my coworkers do a lot of work in the Sawtooths. I will pass the info on to R. as I get it and he can pass it along to you. Beautiful area, tons of great goat country and some awesome alpine lake fishing as well. You guys will have fun.

fallout,

Glad to hear from you. Good Nevada name :) . We are very stoked about the tag. Can't wait. I've never been much of a fisherman but you can bet I'm buying me a backpack rod. I'm viewing this as a hunt of a lifetime for me too even though it's my son with the tag. We would appreciate any info you can give us. Oh and that "R" guy, he's an OK dude. :) Enjoyed a fun hunt with him last fall. He's good people.

congradulations... to you and your son. a friend of mine put in for that hunt this year and was one of the unsuccessfulls. hope to hear the story and see some pictures this fall. good luck and have fun!!!

Well as luck would have it I'll be hunting across the hill in unit 39. I was one of the four lucky non-residents to get a tag this year. I'd be interested to hear how you are thinking about doing your hunt. Are you going to hold out for a long haired goat later in the season? How selective can someone be in your unit?

Madmoose, Just out of curiosity what were the circumstances surrounding your friends unsuccessful hunt in that unit?
