I am getting my father in law into archery and he hasn't taken the class. My question is, isn't there a grandfather rule so he doesn't have to take the class? I thought it was like before 1975 or something. Thanks for your help.

This what they have to say on the web.
Individuals born after January 1, 1975 must complete a hunter education course to purchase an Idaho hunting license OR show proof of a previously held valid hunting license in Idaho or another state.

And this what you have to have for Archery.If you don't have and old archery stamp with your name on it.

This requirement may be met by providing proof of having completed an approved bowhunter education course in Idaho or another state; or by providing proof that a valid archery permit was previously held in Idaho or another state.

i had my wife take the bow hunter course so now she hunts with me but what about rifle?? is she good for that since they cover basic hunting also? i keep getting mixed answers from fish and game and it is not clear to me in the regs and i hunted states prior to being resident of idaho so i was affidavit and didn't have to do it. what is your opinion or interpretation. thanks

OK she has to have a hunting license to go bow hunt you use the same license to rifle hunt as do you bow hunt.This is in Idaho right.
As far as getting mixed answers from the F$G that's all you will get from that pack of mental midgets.

ok cool like i was saying it would make perfect since we just wanted to make sure so we don't get a ticket if checked and didn't have a rifle hunters ed card. thanks swampmule
