Idaho 59/59a?

Anyone every archery hunt for elk in these units? if so what type of terrain, access and elk pop in the targhee national forest, specificaly the area around Scott Peak and west of Old Beaver? How about motorized access? are atvs legal to run around on? anything else anyone could add would be greatly appreciated.

ummm atvs are trails or roads only, used to be great archery hunting prior wolves. I hunted rifle up their this year, seen 3 elk total a cow and 2 calves. I have hunted 59 and 59a since i was little my brother in law hunts there, my dad hunted there. Elk arent what they once were.

Ugh, I was worried about that, being so close to yellowstone, that and I figured thered be grizzlys about.

I agree the elk numbers are not what they used to be, but they are still there in smaller numbers, I hunt the Eddie creek area usually and it is steep, I have not killed an elk with an arrow yet, but usually take a spike during rifle season

dang 7mm you the one been shooting my spike every year. There was a heard across from edie up on the flats behind hogans as usual. This was opening day deer when they deer hunters had elk moving around. Have you hunted every year up there?
