LAST EDITED ON Jul-11-06 AT 07:37PM (MST)[p]What are you doing to prepare for the upcoming archery hunt? Have you patterned your deer yet? Do you know where you will be hunting? Have you tuned your bow and shot your broad heads if so how are they flying? If you have any problems getting them flying maybe I can help out with some advise. Have you photographed anything with trail cameras or video if so lets see them? I am just trying to pass the time until opening day.

Here are a few things I have done. I have put in several overnighters and probably put in over 30 miles looking in different areas for the largest deer I can find. I tried to take a few pictures through spotting scope but they turned out bad. I hope to pick up a canon gl2 before Christmas to help out with this problem for next year. I have tuned my bow and shot my arrows with Wac?em broadheads out to 80 yards. Not to say I will shoot this far but knowing that they group with my field tips inside a 6 to 8 inch circle will give me the confidence that I can connect on anything closer. I also try to shoot any 3d tournaments coming up to help out with judging yards and dealing with pressure. Now for the hard part I will begin running this week a couple of miles a night and start a weightlifting program to increase my bow strength. I also plan on taking off the first or second week of the bowhunt off.
I am just wondering if the opening day is like Christmas to anybody else. I can't weight!

It's better than Christmas. I shoot year round and when my bow gets out of tune it doesn't stay there for more than a day or two. I have been strength training since Nov. Started doing cardio about 6 weeks ago. I hate running so I jump rope, ride my bike and on the weekends I go hiking or backpacking.

I moved into a two story house about 2 months ago. Thats the extent of my strength training!

Opening day is what its all about, this is the best time of year. I've been doing some cardio at the gym 3 times a weekto get my legs & lungs ready. Also been doing some consistent lifting as well. Luckily we already have our area picked out as a result of pre-season scouting. I want to be prepared opening weekend to not have to go back to camp until something has an arrow through it!
SWbuckmaster- how do you like shooting your Wac'ems? I am wanting to switch from muzzy to these...do they match your field point shots? WOuld like to hear your thoughts on this.

I am a completive shooter and arrow flight is the most important thing to me. I stress if I can't get my broad heads to group with my field tips at 80 yards. But I have found out that if your bow is properly tuned. Your arrow is properly spined. You have the proper size fletching. You can get any broad head to shoot with your tips if they are equal in weight. Some broad heads say 100 grain but they are 107gr, 95gr or what ever. Wakem's are 100 grain on the money and are quiet in the air. They have the cut on contact tip which will penetrate better than a broad head with out a cut on contact tip. They fly as well as expendables through my bow. I shot a deer last year with a quartering toward me shot. This is the worst position you can have. The deer was only 16 yards so I took the shot. The broad head broke several ribs going in and out and stuck in the ground several inches. I put the arrow in my quiver and left it in the garage for a year. I went out and washed it a few days ago and noticed it didn't have hardly a nick in the blades so I put it on an arrow and did a spin test. It spun perfectly. The other thing is it didn't have any rust on the body or blades. I believe if I wanted I could sharpen the body and replace the blades and have a perfect broad head again. Any way I now use it as a test arrow and it still shoots with the practice tips.
Sorry about the long post but these heads are awesome.

Good to hear. What about the cutting diameter...how big is it, about an inch or so? I noticed these heads seem to be smaller than most, but even still I like the looks of them and am leaning towards going with them.
