Does anyone know about the Hunters Ed class that is supposed to be held in April?
I'll hopefully be attending to get that Hunters Ed point.

I think last years class was in March. It was in April but Don was trying to schedule around turkey season. I have been trying to take it for several years. By the time its posted my wife has a work conflict. Hopefully this will be the year

Anybody know if there are more classes scheduled for this year?
I called but can't seem to get a straight
Answer.

Im sure Don will post here when the class becomes available. You won't find it on the website until the class has been posted. It is not listed in their general hunter ed information.

Visit the dept web site, clicking on the hunter ed link at the btm of the page, then "classroom course schedule". Your questions will be answered and you can also register.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-30-19 AT 02:32PM (MST)[p]Based on their answering machine message, the bonus point hunters ed course needs to be completed 30 days prior to the draw date.

Must be completed and submitted by instructor 30 days prior to the draw for points to count on that draw from my understanding is correct.

I just registered for the Phoenix field class this morning for March 9th. 30 spaces were available and were filled in less than 15 minutes.

If you complete any of the Arizona Hunter Education Course offerings you will earn an AZ Hunter Education Permanent Bonus Point. Classes of every type (except the one day Nonresident Supplemental Advanced Hunter Education Classroom Class with a modified Field Day) will be held in various regions of the state. That NRS Class is currently only being put on by Don Martin and only in Golden Valley, AZ (SW of Kingman at the 7 Mile Hill Gun Range/Mohave Sportsman?s Club); he is currently doing a class in the Winter and one in the Spring.

There will be a Field Day on April 28th for students who completed the online portion of the AZ Hunter Ed Course. That OFD will be held at the TriState Shooting Park in Ft Mohave, AZ, across the Colorado River from the Laughlin, NV resorts and casinos. That class will not post for signups until 6 weeks prior to the event date. An identical class will also be held at the same location over the Memorial Day Holiday on May 26th, with signups beginning around April 14th.

There is also a Field Day that is called a ?Bonus Point Field Test?. The BPFT is for hunters at least 18 years of age with at least 3 prior years of hunting experience who have completed the AZ HE Online Course. This class is purely a test where students arrive at the event and rotate through several stations of hunting scenarios with firearms and ammunition handling being observed and scored. Students must also retake a written exam and earn enough cumulative points to earn a PAZHEBP. Typical completion time for attendees is 60-90 minutes. There will be a BPFT at the TSSP in Fort Mohave on March 24th, it should be up on the azgfd.gov website for signups about Feb 15th.

Based on past experiences, ANY type of ?Field Day? fills very quickly as students scramble to grab a spot to obtain that precious AZPHEBP, so watch the website and register as soon as you see a class with an open seat that fits your available dates.

Good luck,

Good news, Bad news. My wife reached a rare sales goal this year and has won a rewards trip to Hawaii. She has only reached this goal one other time in 19 years with the company. You guessed it, its the first week of April and we can't do both trips. I have cancelled our two spots in the class and will try again next year. The class was full so if you didn't get in there should be two spots available now.

Just to clarify, I currently do only TWO Supplemental classes a year, due to lack of availability of volunteer instructors.

We did a class in January and I'm doing one on March 30th. That class is totally filled up, but it was up for a number of days before it filled.

Signups are limited to 30 people, again due to the facilities and instructors available.

I ALWAYS try to do a class on the first Saturday in January to give those who have drawn archery javelina tags to "kill two birds with one rock!"

Then I try to do one in April, but do to scheduling conflicts this year, the class had to be scheduled for March 30th.

Yes there are other classes that you, the NR can take, but if you want to really learn information about Arizona and the draw, along with draw strategies, then this class is the one to take.

I may be boasting here. but I think the staff of volunteers who assist in this class do a great job and make spending the day out here worthwhile.

As always, if you have any questions, I can be reached by cell at 928-303-9481 or by email at [email protected]
