Hoyt Trykon Bow - String Noise

I have a new Hoyt Trykon that I shot for the first time today. I like the bow and it feels good in my hand. The only problem is that when I shot the bow it made a noisy vibration. After several shots and tightening everything I figured out that the noise was coming from the string. It sounds like a rubber band when you stretch it tight and strum the bands. If you know what I mean. I have a winners choice string on it. I have a 30 inch draw length and the bow is set at 66 pounds. Have any of you experienced a problem like this on your Trykon. I would appreciate any suggestions.

I am using the ones that come with the bow. I think that they are made by Limbsaver and they look like a little beehive.

Actually the "beehive" string silencers on your new Trykon are called StringShox and they are made by Fuse (a divison of Hoyt). Personally I don't care for them, as I feel they do not dampen the string and/or bow enough. Most new bows (Hoyts) I've set up that come with these I've changed out with good old fashioned cat whiskers. For dampening ability with long life, there's not much better, IMO.

SVL (limbsavers) make two string silencers as well. Both dampen well, however they do NOT last on a bow that is shot often.

Try some cat whiskers and see if that helps. Good luck and have fun.

Thanks, I will change them out and see if that works. I really like the bow but the sound just after the shot is really bad. I am also going to go ack to the archery shop and see if I can quiet it down.

BOHUNTR--Thanks for the tip! I too have just picked up the Trykon, it shoots great! I do notice a little string noise but not really enough to bother me, & certainly not enough to spook a bull !! <grin> I'll try the cat whiskers too!!

I have just about tried them all from beaver balls to cat wiskers.. Personally, I think the wiskers are the way to go...

Note: If your servicing around your sight on your string is set back to far from the site it will cause the twang to amplify.
if you use a release loop make sure its tight and in line with your string.
likewise all arrow nocks posisioners are tight.
I covered the sides of my cams with pig skin felt.
there's nothing like trying to achive total silance.
good luck.

Try placing another washer/spacer or wrap some thread around the axles where they attach to your buss cable. The washers are loose on some of them and it causes a vibration. Measure your bow according to the hoyt specs and make sure it is in spec and the cams are in sync on a draw board. An out of sync cam can also cause add to noise issues. A stretched string will cause more vibration. A friend of mines had the buss cable issue and the thread really did the trick. These bows need string silencers on the string and the newer sims and cat whiskers seem to work better than the beehives furnished with the bow. Another thing if you're shooting really light arrows that may also be a culprit of your vibration woes. Good luck!!

Although great advice above I have found through personal experience with Hoyt Bows, that every single one of them have some kind of a problem. I would say just throw it in the trash and start over with another bow that is better. There are several out there that are. Just my opinion.
