How do build a bow?

Does anyone know where I can find some basic how-to info on building a bow. Not a big fancy job, just a primitive, survival type set up. Thanks.

Bingham is a great place to start with step-by-step procedures on how to properly build different style bows. You can also read some good how-to-build articles in Trandional Bowhunter Magazine etc.

Great looking bow BOHNTR!! What kind of wood did you laminate in the riser??? I have built a few recurves starting with Binghams blueprints. They are conservative and I think a better question is "how to build a FAST bow"? That's what I'm putting all my effort into these days...My next bow should put a 9grain per pound arrow out at 190 fps or faster. That's the speed a high perfomance trad bow should shoot if not faster. Building bows is sure adicting and I don't know how people can only build one. It's too much fun...(and expensive).. Steve

Hey Sneeky,

If you want to forgo building a laminating press and heat box for curing a laminated bow I can help you. I've got a 60" recurve blank for sale. This bow is laminated and ready to cut out and shape. It will end up around 55#@28". I just want to be paid the cost of materials which is $125. Let me know if you're interested. If you are just looking to build a wooden bow there are plenty of people on tradgang.com that can help put you in the right direction. However, I believe the recurve blank will be much easier and less trouble in the long run...Good luck, Steve
