Is it me, or do you see a lot of animals shot with this bullet on TV that take off running after the shot? Do they not have the knockdown power of an accubond or even a berger?

I Don't have any Experience with them!

But I have seen the same thing as you mention!

If I could get POWER POINTS in any Bullet I wanted they'd be the only Choice!(Yes I've been known to Lose a Roast or Two!:D)

Gonna be trying the Accubonds the next few years & I'll see how they Perform!

No such thing as "knockdown power" unless you hit an animal in the head or disrupt the spinal column!

Wait Till REDDOG hears the Term "KNOCKDOWN POWER"!:D

I think the reason you are seeing so many on tv is marketing. I hope they live up to the hype. I have heard both good and bad. I have to boxes of 30 caliber 212 grain ELD -X 's. But like said above a animal hit in the lungs isn't going to drop in his tracks. A spine or head shot does that. I have seen one or two heart shots do that. But I have heard it is because it was hit on a particular beat or a valve open when impacted. I have heard someone here talk about one coming apart. I would like to here more about that.

I have been shooting them out of my 7mm this year and have had mixed results. I don't usually like to talk distances when shooting live animals but here is my experience. Deer #1 was shot at a distance of 810 yards and the bullet did an absolute amazing job. The second deer was shot at 245 yards and it took me 2 days to recover him. Using the 162 eldx.

Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, keep your eyes fixed to where the trail meets the sky...

Use an Accubond and that type of stuff won't happen. mtmuley

I've shot a few critters with the 175's and don't have any complaints. One was a high shoulder shot that dropped immediately and other were lungs and did run 50yds or so. I've shot noslers and bergers as well over the years and they all did the job if I did mine.

What organs were hit in these two scenarios?

Zactly.

Switched to the 212 out of my 300 RUM this past year and had good results. Took my bull at 550 yards, one shot, went about 20 yards and tipped over dead as disco. Haven't had the chance to extensively test them in the field but i am getting consistent 1/2 moa accuracy with them.

I have shot the 178 ELD-X in my .300 Winchester magnum. Most accurate bullet I have ever used. It dropped a mule deer buck with one shot at 300 yards. Of course, the hit was in the spine right behind the shoulder. I am going to try the 150 ELD-X in my 7mm. I just need to find some time to work up a few loads.

just sayin...mh

I have been using the ELD-x with good luck, and accubonds with great luck.

I am not sure how many animals I have shot, but I think I can only remember 2 or 3 that got knocked down and did not get up.

If you think about it, a well placed shot through the lungs or the heart does not hit enough hard tissue to knock something over very often.

I shot an Antelope this year in Idaho, 325 yards 1 shot right through both lungs, straight up the front leg. 300 WSM with 180 Accubonds. He ran like the wind for 75 yards or so, then crashed like crazy...my point, that is enough gun to KNOCK down a tiny pronghorn, but it did not. I do not worry about KNOCK DOWN that much.

That's good. Because bullets can't knock animals down. mtmuley
