Hey guys I posted under "General topics" also but I am moving to Utah for school and I need your help on finding any public land where I can go kill a 20 inch ear width 4*4 muley. I have heard that Utah does not have that much public land most of it is private and guided only, Is this true? If not what is a good public land area to start looking into? I am a back country bow hunter and have no problem walking miles to kill a deer. Thank you for your time!!

Where are you from, and do you have a tag already if not your not hunting deer this year in utah. Utah has tones of public ground to hunt. My advice is next year get out in the mountains and start scouting.

Whoever you've been talking to doesn't know anything about Utah. Lots of public land and designated wilderness. Some will try to tell you there aren't any big bucks, but as you'll find out, they just don't know how to hunt. You can find a good buck in just about any part of the state. So you may as well start hunting close to your school. Check out the proclamation, get a map and get out there. Have fun!

As a lifelong resident of Utah I can echo the previous responses. Utah has more public land than almost any other state (perhaps less than Nevada and Wyoming) but if you are an archer, the sky is your limit. This year my son and I each had chances at 25-32 inch bucks on public land. I would say make some contacts with some local wildlife officers or hunters and have a great time!

What part of Utah are you moving to and when will ya be here?
There are some great bucks In Capitol Reef National Park.
We will help ya out.
