I just bought a new 70" LCD and its all HD! I thought HD tv was suppose to be awesome. I jumped through several channels and noticed that every show and movie I used to like now look like a cheap soap opera or low budget porn. I even diled up some good movies on HBO like battle field LA and what do ya know another cheap porn lookin movie. Am I the only one who doesn't like HD tv or does it take time to get used to this crap?

bought a new LED LCD TV last year and love it. HD is awesome. Watch a blu-ray movie, that is even better.

on some of those tvs you have to go throught and set up the picture. i got a VIZO and it cam in like crap so after going through the crap now its great

Is it a 1080 pixel?
I just bought one as well and was not happy how my standard cable looked, but cd's were crystal clear. Then I discovered the service we chose was not HD. All we had to do was upgrade to the HD package with our cable provider.

Id usually just laugh at a muscle bound retard like you but I too have been in this situation. The picture looks slow and low budget. On new tv's there is somthing called "auto motion plus" go to settings and turn OFF the "auto motion plus" setting and then turn the "sharpness" control (which artificially enhances the edge of objects by actually adding video noise to the signal) down to no more then 10%. I'll bet you see improvement in the image just by doing those two things.

that should fix you up

You may need to adjust your settings on your tv and also the signal coming in needs to be HD. If the signal coming in is not HD it will look like crap. It is pointless to go with a HDTV and not upgrade your programming to HD.

Do you have HD channels/service? There may be a setting that is not right as well...

When it is working properly it is badasss... Like comparing a 338 Lapua to a 30-30.... (I used this analogy for you, it was either that or I drag out the crayons and construction paper)....

Don't confuse it with 3D....it's HD.....take off the glasses.

Mebbe you just watch too much porn in the first place. :)

And what happened to the 13" Black & White TV I grew up with?
When TV's get taller than your Wife(No Offense QTPie)it becomes poor Resolution & looks more like an Illusion stinkbug:D

Hot Dog,Hot Damn,I love this Ameri-can

LAST EDITED ON Nov-14-11 AT 10:49AM (MST)[p]You need to be a subscriber for HDTV thru your cable company or the HD is not going to work....spend some more money.
And best resolution is 1080 pixel.

It's been said, but yes HD makes a difference. If it doesn't make a difference on your T.V, something is wrong. You don't want to use a coax cable, you need and HDMI cable, If you aren't set up through your service provider, you'll need to get set up. If the sides of the screen are dark, it's not an HD channel. If all those things aren't the case, and it is a 1080p T.V, you may not have bought a very good T.V. Good Luck!

It's already been said but just because you have an HD TV does NOT mean you are watching HD. Most channels are NOT HD and you have to pay extra for the HD subscription. It's a noticeable difference and worth it. Just be careful of the porn closeups. TMI!

Also its not real HD unless it was recorded with an HD camera. the rest are just reworks and dont look as good. The newer movies look pretty good in HD and sporting events are a little better. Unless you get HD for free though its not worth it. Good thing for Dish Network.

>Did you just re-use your old
>cables? HD tv requires
>upgraded HD cables.

+1 You even need an upgraded HD power cord. Very important. Go to your local hardware store and ask for an HD TV power cord. Gold is best. And while you're there you might want to pick up some HD TV lubricant. Comes in both spray and ointment. Apply it to the screen liberally.

;-)

I have the HD package and my tv is brand spankin new and is totally HD. My screen is unbelievably crystal clear and that is the problem. I watched the movie "first night" on showtime, (came on right before the cheap porn) and it sucked. When I originally watched it back when it first came out that movie was awesome. Well watching it in HD sucked. You could totally tell all the trees, grass and vegetation were fake. The stinking picture is so clear that everything now looks fake. Only the higher budget movies like avatar are cool to watch.

What I'm not liking is that older movies now look fake and the clarity is making everything seem like its a low budge soap opera. horn star mentioned something about turning off the edge definition? can someone elaborate. I believe this is my problem. The stinking picture is so clear it makes many things seem fake. Again I have 100% HD all the way around and so far don't like it so any other suggestions like turning edge definition to 10 would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help guys, this stupid meat head appreciates it.

what kind of tv is it? You need to adjust it all tv's are tuned to a certain degree to make the HD look the best but it doesnt work that way with older stuff as you are describing. You need to turn off stuff like auto motion plus and all the other junk that isnt brightness/sharpness (all the good old nessecary stuff)

My HD TV's are awesome. I just got my edited DVD back from Africa and it is in HD and awesome. Just like we were there. I cannot believe the difference in HD. My non-HD TV's have a crappy picture now since I have HD signal. HD is the only way to go.

>You need a bigger tv!
>Get rid of that small
>POS

It did make me wonder for a bit why he had to share that it was a 70 inch tv. Does that have something to do with the HD question? Then I remembered it was just stinky compensating again.

wtf NV! you wanna know? fine, I'm small. incredibly small. So small I couldn't impregnate a fly ROFL! That being said you are totally right! I need really really big stuff to make me feel adequate. In fact you need to call my wife and explain the whole situation. You need to explain to her why i really need that 80" aquos instead of the 70"! could you do that for me? LOL

Anyways horn porn. that tv is the sharp aquos. I did notice it has motion enhancement and some other stuff. Its settings were slow medium and high speed motion enhancement, it also had all that image sharpening crap. So give me a morons list of what exactly to do. Remember, I only play smart on here to piss people off. I'm actually dumber than dirt, so talk to me and splain this like i was a 3 year old. even my wife is sick of all the movies looking so friggin fake.

Dude, I have that exact same TV and the HD is the baddest shyt ever invented. Watching NFL games in HD is damned near like being there. You must have something wrong with yourself. I suggest an immediate appointment with Dr. Kevorkian!

It usually takes everybody else a day or two to figure out that Stinky is actually bragging about his newest toy.

Well stinky I would call her but quite frankly some are wondering about her whereabouts. She hasn't posted for months, maybe since the leopard hunt. There is talk she may have dumped you and moved on to greener pastures. What you have admitted here may actually suggest there is some truth to that rumor.

Dry boot, I would but you know, they're mine and I paid for them and I'd like to keep it that way! :)

turn the motion enhancement all the way down or off if you can and try adjusting the sharpening till you get the desired picture. Im pretty sure the motion enhancement is your problem.

ahhhhh, motion enhancement going off, sharpening gonna be adjusted. thank ya much man. actually im not really bragging. apparently someone at sams scratched the shell of the tv somewhere and they had it on sale for $1400. once i saw the scratch i laughed and took the tv.

anyways thanks for the help on my tv guys

Stinker, Since you admitted to having to get a little closer for some things that may be your issue here. HD TV has more artifacts at a closer distance it's part of why the picture looks so great. I have 65" TV and believe me on just about every show on my unit it looks great. Some tv's have the capability to upconvert the signal to more lines and it can improve the picture on older movies. I'd call your hd provider and talk to them it may be that you're only getting the HD channels in your area on main channnels or you may need a new box. In any case once you get it figured out it is better in just about every foremat letterbox included. I can tell you that 120HZ vs 240+ HZ can effect picture quality on a bigger screen and that may be part of the issue depending on the TV.

But once set up right even your old worn out porn movies will look better and as such may not get you fired up as quickly because those zits & warts really show up in HD! It's probably just adjustments or you may need to give your eyes some time to adjust too. Once you get it dialed in the kids will love a good movie and you find yourself looking at some older movies and enjoying them again as a result of just how good the picture quality is. But make sure you have a DVD player that's compatible with your new TV's resolution to get the most out of it. Hope this helps a bit enjoy!
