Our Father in Heaven loves us so much that He sent his pure and sinless Son to suffer the inconscionable. Jesus knowingly and willingly suffered horrible torture: Whipped until His flesh hung off His bones, he was spit on and ridiculed and then crucified. Even more dark and fearsome: while mankind went about those three days eating and drinking and sinning, Jesus went to Hell to do battle with Satan and his demons... and he did this all for us, so that we may be forgiven and spend eternity in Paradise with Him!
