Dad surprised me with an early bday present. A new unfired Ruger #1 in 25-06. Gorgeous wood and had a larger contour barrel. Couldn't let it go unfired for more than about 20 minutes though......

We shot 4 loads; 92 gr Hammers, 95 gr Ballistic Tips, 117 gr SSTs and 110 Gr ELD X......the ELD X piled into one raggedy hole about 3/4" or less. The rest were 1" - 1 1/2" @ 100 yards. Not too bad at all. And love the action. I'm already looking for the next caliber to buy one in.
 
Nice! That’s the 25-06 I want. That, or a Dakota model 10. I had a few 25-06 bolt actions and they were boring for me. I think because I have so many of the same type that are real close to the same performance, caliber and function that it became bland for me. I sold mine about four years ago. I had one Ruger Number 1 in 25-06 come across me for sale one day, but I passed it up. It was nowhere near as nice looking as yours.
 
Well hell, if we’re doing our favorite 25-06’s here’s mine after having its spa day last year. Lucky buy to find a cheap shooter.
