Gunnison Basin Sheds

Going out to find some sheds in the basin when the restrictions lift. How many of this year's muley sheds do you guys think have already been picked up illegaly?

Hopefully there are a few left for the law abiding hunters!

I say 90% were still there the 15th at 10am
I was going just now but there are 60 head standing there..
I will wait another week. For that draw..

I hear ya.....
I went out on the 15th and even though theres hardly any snow down low and the deer seem to be in good shape, I spent a lot of my time maneuvering around deer to not stress them.

Found 5 sheds, a heavy 4 point side that was about 2 years old, a real chalky match set 4x4 and a couple small ones. Gonna get out again after this storm blows through and try and find my first brown of the season : /

3 inches here on the Valley floor. It did cover all the
bare ground but will be off the South Slopes by dark. I agree the game looks strong. But man they are jumpy. Hard not to bump them. I wasted these 3 days off, next week its on.

Is the whole area open now or juts some ares. I was thinking about looking around up there since I never have. I heard some areas are closed til June? I dont know just wondering if its even worth my time to go look since I dont know whats open or closed.

I believe the areas which are closed until june would just be the state wildlife areas or SWA's on the map. So you just have to stay off those and stick to blm or national forest. Also, you cannot gather sheds before 10 am until I think May 1st, for the sage grouse.

Ok good to know, thanks for the info MM, I was gonna go up early one morning and see where they were hangin out and go from there. Good thing I know to wait til 10 that woulda sucked. Maybe we might run into each other up there who knows.
