Wondering if anybody does this?

I mighta over done it!

Ground em way down & I'm tellin you,You'd best be Hangin on to it!

And don't even think about using the Tip!

She's got a lot of Bite!

This Story happens alot it's True!
But Ya Best Hope it don't ever happen to you!

Guess I must SPLAIN it!

At 5:25 You'll see the Tang being Filed down!

I took mine down 3/16" further than recommended!

The Ole 066 Magnum has got a lot of Bite now!

Don't try it on a PISSCUTTER Saw!

You won't have enough Horsepower to turn the Chain!:D

We called it "knockin' the rakers down" I make mine "hungry" all the time....especially in limy trees...

All chains should get the rakers lowered when they need it....each chain has a recomended amount that should be taken off.....usually 0.25 or so below the top plate. I have a cheap little gauge made by Oregon I think...works slick.
Bobby....takin too much off the rakers makes em pretty "grabby" :)

PS...this thread is a total disappointment.

You must be the JB of arithmetic.

I much prefer a grabby, lowered, and raked taint.......for grinding and banging.....

I wish southern Idaho had Tamarack. I miss cutting that stuff. Best firewood on the planet IMHO. Hey elk is 066 what sears calls the eager beaver? Lol. I'm a husqvarna man.

"Grindin the Tang" got me to thinking of a guy with a file working on the front sight of his carbine. I took a file to a old Rem Pump 22 that my Grandpa had and let me have the use of. I filed that blunt point front sight right down to skinny and needle sharp. My accuracy with it was much improved though if that neat old pump was mine now i'd wished i'd left her alone.

I never did figure them rakers out on a saw chain. I filed them too once in awhile. One time i got a bit too aggressive with them rakers and when i did put her to wood, she pulled the saw right out my hands, gloves and all. That saw was hungry!! ;-)

Grows straight as an arrow. 1 chop split even on rounds "your" bar won't reach thru. :D. Yep. Crappy wood right there! Oh it's probably heavy for you? But that's why a round burns for 2 weeks!

I have a chain that the depth gauge is ground way down for cutting soft wood (lodge-pole or quakie) Isn't the tang the bottom of the drive link? I'm not an expert. Can cut a lot of wood with that depth gauge gone but it gets a little spooky with harder or knotty woods.
