Huge fan - love the accordian and the tuba! Just can't ever get enough oompa-pa!

Here are a few of my favorites - let's hear some of yours....

Gus Wiesnewcski and the Polar Club Orchestra
Randolph Lund and the Pork Barrelers
Kate Lugenbill's Old Time Pola Review and Dancing Troupe
Harpo Misoshinsky and the Harpos.
Rosemary Hunruninski and the Mackerel Club Polka Band

Just great!!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-13-11 AT 09:36AM (MST)[p]Roy you have been spending to much time down there. I was in your area this past weekend. I went to New Braunfels and up to Georgetown. Have you been spending time over in Granger and that area? There are a lot of great little communities with awesome food on the east side of Austin, Georgetown etc. I Drove by UT and threw the "Horns Down" sign to you as I went by:) BY the way there is a fine line in Northern polka and Big Band Mexicano....If there is a an I-YI-YI in the song, it is from our southern neighbors:)

I will admit whenever Big Joe Polka Show is on I stop for a bit and watch. He wears some sweet outfits!!!

cj - we must have crossed paths at some point on the way home! I was in Lubbock from Thursday to Saturday. Next time you are down this way send me a PM and we can meet for lunch. There is some great eating around here!

So, I was in the Phillipines in about 1968.

The bars there had bands and singers that were amazing at playing and sounding EXACTLY like contemporary rock, country, big band, etc. I thought it was actually pretty cool!

One night, we were in this bar and there was a group that were "polka specialists".....it didn't work! The music was right on the mark, but 6 scrawney Phillipinos', with tubas, accordians and clarinets.......I guess you had to be there, but we laughed so hard, I hurt for days afterward.

Your a funny guy, Roy. But, c'mon now dude.

Can't you understand......that to see Molly Hatchet and .38 Special.......live in concert.......in Rock Springs, Wyoming.....is the HOLY GRAIL of all musical events ever on this planet as well as the EPITOME of cultural events and people interactions of all those in our entire Country's history?

LOL YD!!

Roy I tried to flip off every person that I passed on the road that looked like a UT fan:) I bet your kids hate you for making them listen to polka music from Lubbock to Roundrock. The drive is crappy enough.(no not the scenery, the time it takes) I came home through the Burnett cutoff in Georgetown up through Lampasas, Goldwaith, Brownwood etc. to Abilene and then north home. I went through Brady, Mason, fredricksburg, etc on the way down. Beautiful country through central Texas, cant beat it! The whole state needs rain though. We are all suffering!

Have you been to Granzins Meat Market in New Braunfels?? Holy shiz I left some money there. The fresh sausage dry sausage they make is incredible(jalapeno is the best!! The sausages, seasoned tri-tips, and everything in their meat case is outstanding!! I am set for a couple weeks:) BBQ ready!!
