Pretty exciting when I finally was in the right spot at the right time. I was hunting in a hunters choice spike or cow area so I figured if either got in range I'd take it. After a long boring week of hunting seeing nothing, I had 85ish elk stampeed almost over me to get to the spring I had made a blind next too (private property). I had elk within 3 ft of me and I had to wait a good 3-4 minutes before they settled down to where I could draw the bow without them seeing. I litterally shot over a calf that was 4 ft away to hit this cow (due to the angle from the blind I couldnt shoot down without standing up which they would have seen).
The shot was just under 40 yards and I was surprised at how shakey I was. I hit her square, just a tad forward and high but it clipped the arteries coming out of the heart and she only went 40 yards and piled up, dead within 10 seconds of the shot. It was remarkably amazing. She is a nice 2.5 yr old dry cow & going to be very tastey
Sadly the only camera I had with me was a disposable film camera and NONE of the pictures turned out. I was mightily depressed over that but ah well, no biggie. Heres a pict at home the next morning before heading off to the butcher.
Pretty cool stuff.
