got there a little early and sat down. ranged a few trees and here they came. about 15 minutes of sitting in the snow i had a raghorn 6x7 standing broadside with 3 other spikes and 17 cows. 35 yds..... so i drew back thinking this is awesome they dont even know i'm here. split the difference between my 30 and 40 pin in the middle of his chest and let her fly. no kick no jump no flinch no nothing. wtf no red snow nothing... put another arrow and about half way through it the herd starts staring at me so i'm shaking really badly with excitment and frustration trying to knock another arrow... not working. finally get it and go to draw back and there is elk going everywhere....... so i sit there for a few and think about what just happened. everything should have gone right he should have an arrow through his chest and looking for a place to lay down and die. but no i have no idea where the arrow went still cant find it and i followed them for about 2 miles afterward and saw them again tonight and they are all there very healthy and they picked up another 5 point. so we will see what luck has for me tomorrow night hopefully i can seal the deal and harvest my first elk with a bow. this is my first year with a bow and i got a 2 point buck earlier this year. any tips?

I think I would shoot my bow at a target to make sure everything is allright with it. Goodluck on your hunt. fatrooster.

I am no"expert" but to me it sounds like the only thing you are lacking is experience. You've got a good area, animals, the ability to get close. Experience will calm the nerves. The more your in those situations the less likely* they are to affect you.
Just keep going out and having fun!

*less likely to affect you....doesn't mean you wont get the shakes, just better able to deal with them.

Good story,thanks for posting
