Good Idea????

I'm sure its been though of, but has anyone ever attempted to use a high power riflescope (like a 8 to 32 or higher) as a way to save weight on a backpack hunt instead of a spotter? I have a bushnell 4200 that I picked up at a gun show and thought I might build an adapter for my tripod. Iknow it's not as good as a real spotter but with a AO would it be worth the weight savings?
