Gold Tip Insert/Threads Question

I shoot 5575's that are 29" out of my Mathews bow. But I have a heckuva time with some of the inserts. I can't seem to get the broadheads or sometimes even field points threaded all the way into the inserts. I'm thinking of using a tap on them to clean the threads, but thought I'd ask for other ideas first.

Any suggestions??? Thanks for your help.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-04-05 AT 12:10PM (MST)[p]I have found that when you first put a tip into the insert make sure you pull on the tip as you thread it in. you don't need to pull very hard but some good light pressure. this seems to help align it better for me. I have also found that the first few threads can get screwed up so I will screw the tip in about 1 to 1 and a half turns and then pull it out. this will clean it out usually and make it easier to screw them in. but I always make sure to pull on the tip while I screw it in.

good luck

Usually because the glue gets in the back of the insert. Next time try standing the arrow "Tip UP" in a corner after installing the insert.

May not be your problem but it sounds exactly like what happened to me with Carbon Express.

Thanks, guys. This helped, but there's still one arrow I can't get. I'll just have to use another insert. Struggle, struggle!
