LAST EDITED ON Oct-26-13 AT 04:04PM (MST)[p]hell am I still watching this!!?? I swore I was done with it, but, I am back with it!

I guess the Hoffman's have me sucked in. How many times can they avert total and utter disaster every episode??

I guess I am no longer watching it to see if the can be successful but to see how bad the train wreck is going to be when it DOES happen.

I hear you Roy. I'm hooked already.

A lot of those close calls are intentionally made to look that way, but in reality, are just part of the day to day operation. Like pushing/pulling that $300 thousand dollar trammel up the hill.

I'm more worried about Parker with his "Trace" drill results.

Some of these JOKERS have TOASTED their Pea Brains!

They're about as good at finding Gold as I am,Not worth a Damn!

Smarter than me though!

They're making money by having Fools watch the Show & not finding Gold!

Maybe the Show shoulda been called "FOOLS GOLD"!:D

I used to know of places worth Hiking in to for Elk & Deer!
Thanks to Illegal Bastards & the USFS not enforcing Rules you can Zing in to them Places on Wheelers now & not see a Damn thing!
But by GAWD it don't take long for them U-Tards to get there with all the Unethical BS and the New Technology!

LOL! Me too Roy! The old man is too old for that.

I took a header the other day when a wave hit my kayak just as I was getting out. Splat, right on the hard sand. I'm all stoved up now.

So, their hotspot, supposedly $60. a yard material, was mined out by outlaw miners between the time they got permission and arrived back with their equipment. There was though, a nice new clearing and newly designed habitat to sleep in... WTF, who was watching the farm?

Why not hire someone, probably very little cost, to keep a eye on their interests while they're not there? I know, i know, it's only a show, but this seems like another one of Todd's bonehead moves. They find and lock up a spot that they're going to invest millions in but they don't pay pennies to watch over it for illegal miners who are known to be rampant in the area.

I hope they all do good. Still don't like Dakota Fred much but his kid seems like a guy i'd want on my team. Parker? He is interesting to watch, will be, hope he doesn't make too many mistakes. I got the Gold Rush Fever. There's worse things to watch on TV. lol

100% agree Joey - Todd goes and talks to the illegal miners, telling them to "clear out" and the he is "coming back" in a few months to mine it himself. Well HELLO!! Might as well put a flag out that says "MINE HERE QUICK - BEFORE WE GET BACK!" Yep - they should have at least fenced off the area they were going to mine and put guards on it. I was a little disgusted.

They have no intention of finding gold. The gold is in their contracts per episode.

Last I heard it was around $25K per week. I'd go act like a fool for that kind of money.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-02-13 AT 08:26PM (MST)[p]Thanks Roy, agreed!

smitty, you could well be right that they have little intentions of finding Gold but i don't necessarily agree. Parker wants to prove himself as a competent and successful miner, is in it for getting the Gold not just the money and, IMO, the Hoffmans truly want to prove it to...somebody, that they are making the right moves by not going back up north.

$25K a week(any confirmation on that number?)would sure help keep the diesel bill paid though, nice to have that bagged just in case the pans run light.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-16-13 AT 03:18PM (MST)[p]Not Gold Rush but near the same thing:

Bearing Sea Gold, useless Steve goes down for his first dive, sees cobble as far as he can see, proclaims that they are in the gold, has visions of grandeur, and runs off to make bets. Very next episode, another diver goes down same location and starts dredging in a sand pile claiming there is no gold in the area and they need a new spot.

They pull their shed all the way out there with a 4x4 but now his useless daughter seems to believe they need a dozer to move it.

WTF? lol

Well, the season is about over.

Parker did good. 836 ounces? maybe more.

The Dakota's did OK and I think they might hit it big up on Kahoon Creek.

Hoffman's are struggling. It looks like a bust.

I still like/hate the show and can't quit watching. My wife is kinda hooked on Bering Sea Gold.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-27-14 AT 09:59PM (MST)[p] I haven't watched the show in more then a year. Pisses me off they the Heffers are so retarded. Just makes me want to go mining again. Back in the 80's I chased gold from Nome to the Yukon Territory, Montana, Utah and Nevada. Never a dull moment from Grizzly tearing up the camp to the 10 Oz gold nugget I found and sold to the Nugget Casino in Carson City. At the time Gold was like $280 pr Oz. And they gave us $10K . Seen the glory days and the dog days but always produced gold. I now get more gold on a hobby weekend using a shovel and a pick then the Hoffmans do with a whole crew of D-9's in a day.
My favorite was the Yukon north of Whitehorse a place called Livingston Valley. I think it is not to far from where Parker was headed last I seen the show.
3 man crew and a bunch of beater equipment. We were getting 20-30 oz days!! Checked it out on Google a while back and it looked like Kennecot Copper had been there. Not a tree one left. It was an old Klondike Miners common camp. I have some pics but not digital or I would post em.
Like most hobbie miners I now have $10,000 in equipment and I have found $1000 in gold. Here is a pic of the last gold machine I helped build. State of the art high tech. 2000 ton a day continuous cleanup. You dump dirt in one end and the gold comes out in a bucket on the other end. Well it won't upload it comes out black if someone wants to try and post it I will send it to them.
I will say this there is gold in dem dar hills.

Rutnbuck

Hey Rut!

You shoulda kept that 10 oz Nugget till now!:D

I remember that pic from when I was a little kid in the late 70's. I think it was in Guinness Book of records or something. I never realized how much they both look like a blown up version of Bocephus!!

You sound like you were pretty hard core rutnbuck. I bet it was quite an experience with lots of memories, living the dream.

My gold mining has been mostly limited to a pan and a 4'sluice box (mostly claim jumping:))

I had a home made 4" dredge that I worked a "free area" on Trinity River for a few months. It didn't have air so I was confined to the bank or shallow riffles. I got about 1/2 oz. but mostly worked other peoples tailings. I saw a couple guys pull out 35 ounces behind one rock in deeper water with a 4" dredge one day.

I would never sell a 10 oz. nugget!(unless I needed the money of course)

I literally laughed until I almost passed out from not breathing when ol' Jack took out the wash plant with the bucket of that excavator!! Nobody can truly say that they didn't see that one coming. I swear that is the story of the Hoffmans quest for gold in a nutshell!!

Run out of Alaska, run out of the Klondike, now run out of South America!!

Looks like Parker is figuring things out. Good for him. He is kind of a punk, but he seems to have is head on straight.

The Dakota Boys? Well, they covered their expenses, but not much more than that.

I hope Parker is able to got 1000 ounces.

I watch both the stupid shows. Parker might be a punk, but how damn nice is it to see a young dude bust azz. I work with a bunch of these useless kids, I love seeing it, my son is sick of me pointing out how young parker is and YES he can work from light to dark, and he didn't die.

As for the other show, I worked with my dad for 20 yrs, we fought like cats and dogs, he gone now, I love watching the Cristine Rose, reminds me of the old days.

But lets face it, every one of us wants to be Tony Beets. I drop the f bomb, but I can't grow hair like that dude, THATS A MANS MAN. Plus, secretly you know he respects Parker, pretty sure he has a daughter.

"The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun"

Eel you find the rock I will bring the dredge! I don't know that country you live in is full of gold and your country laws suck when it comes to dredging. My first nugget was on the American River! I have a couple friends that head to Nome for the last 15 yrs and always come back with 30-40 ozs. Not bad for 3-4 months and one man operations. Not sure what it cost them I am thinking 15k . They dredge the ocean on what they call a ladder dredge.
Rutnbuck

Yes, I admire Parker's work ethic too. He's a skilled equipment operator also for so young.

rutnbuck, here is the 35 ounce rock. That was probably 20 years ago. Dredging not allowed now days.

never...ever carry your gold around in a glass jar.....is that stupidity only on TV???

When you go swimming in the ocean, it is very cold, and it makes my willy small

Yeah - I wondered about that too JB!

They must do it for the camera. Seems pretty careless. They need to melt it down and make ingots of it.

I was happy that Parker got the 1029 ounces.

Still laughing at old Jack taking out that wash plant. What a train wreck!
