Last year we started a second thread after the All Star Break so I figured let's do it again.

Without checking, I think last year at the break we were in 4th place 5 games out, and we know how that turned out...thanks in part to the Padres choking late.

This year we're in 1st place with a 3 game lead. It's ours to lose boys!

Eel

P.S Like Joey always says.....we got em right where we want em!

I wonder if RACKMASTER is out of jail yet?

Thanks Eel! Though we by no means have this thing wrapped up, i believe we have the team make-up to win the division. Many "experts" thought we wouldn't even do that! I look for a tough go here verses running away with it. Not sure why except we never seem to make things easy so i don't think they'll start doing so now!

If we do win the division, look out! Again this year, nobody is going to want to be in a 7 game series with the SF Giants. They don't much respect us, feel their teams are much superior, yet they don't care to have to play us either! In that respect, we are feared.

Let's pick up a guy or two that will help and most of all, hope our remaining key guys stay healthy!

Joey

ONE BAT!
Can make the differance!!!
Don't fear the 1 run game!!!
the bull pen has to keep it together!!!(this is the key!).
gonna be fun..and tuff!

RACKMASTER could be anywhere. You never know!:)

Bochy did a masterful job last night of winning the All Star game! He was just setting the table to play the first 2 games of the WS at AT&T Park again this year!

GO GIANTS!

Eel

I watched Showtime "THE FRANCHISE"......WILSON cracks me up, Huff a funny dude too.
The skipper Bruce was made for this, Zito seems to much like a "tree hugger" or into "Karma" to much to me!
Its cool to see behind the scenes and family stand behind them, Freddy's story and how his wife been there since school was great!
I am ready!!
BRING IT!!
UP BY 3 and I don't FEAR THE 1 RUN GAME!!
da roper

It was brought to my attention from a MM buddy that I hadn't posted anything for a while. Well I got bad news for all of us Giant's fans. If you remember I went on a 5 game road trip in May to Chicago and Denver.....if I remember we were 1-3 and a rainout(I think Eel blambed the poor showing on my attendence. Here is the bad news, I'm going to the Giant's/Dodgers game tomorrow (anniversery gift from our kids). So this time I hope to bring good luck to our Giant's. The day after we were married we attended a Giant's doubleheader and my wife has been a huge Giant's fan since.

larrbo, oh shoot!:) Time to redeem yourself! Have fun!

I just heard we picked up Jeff Keppinger (utility infielder) from Houston for a couple minor leagers. He must be a misfit? Our kinda guy!:)

Eel

Hows about them Giants??

Hey, "Belt" that ball good!

Larrbo, Have Fun Buddy but don't stay too long, just in case,.. ;-)

Joey

BOCHY's a frecking genius!!
I'll be there lower box sec 231 seat 1,2,3,.....
work is going to be pissed!
beating the Dodgers 6 times in a row has not been done by SF sinse 1969.....

If I blamed anyone it would have to be Kershaw. Bochy uses him in the All Star game, makes him look like a hero, and this is the thanks we get?

Note to Juan Uribe: How do you like your move now? At least you're batting .208. Keep up the good work!:)

Eel

Good afternoon guys!

Looks like the Giants are getting into a very important part of their schedule. They are looking at 3 against the Brewers, 3 @ the philly's, 3 with Cinci. at their place, 3 with AZ, 4 more with the phillies, and finishing up the, IMO, hardest part of their remaining schedule with Pittsburgh for 3 on August 10th. these 6 series are going to be all against teams that are doing a good job, playing good ball, trying to win their own divisions. Nuff said!

The Brewers are always tough. They can flat hit the ball and i look for them to give us all we want in a game if not more so. It's tough for us though, not to look ahead to the phillies series starting Tues. If you read of the game on paper or in blogs, most everyone has again this year, not given the Giants the ability to beat the phillies and phillies fans are about the most arrogant and cocky to deal with on the boards that i sometimes participate in.

I'm hoping that we play better than .500 during this next 19 game session. If we do, i believe we can and will, we are pretty well set up to breeze thru the rest of the season with a lot of home games against less than .500 team that won't be in contention for... much.

Go Giants!!

Joey

tacoman2, what? Uribe is a Dodger.:)

Joey, I hate it when you're right. Now I'm back chewing my finger nails.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-24-11 AT 02:35AM (MST)[p]Nyjer Morgan, Besides flipping off our fans on TV and then making a total tool of himself last night after a RBI double, only to get thrown out trying to advance to third on a ball in the dirt, here'some of his other exploits;

"On August 25, 2010, Morgan was given a seven game suspension for allegedly throwing a ball at a fan during a game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

Just one week later, on September 1, 2010, Morgan was involved in an on-field brawl with Florida Marlins pitcher Chris Volstad. On the previous night Morgan ran into Marlins catcher Brett Hayes, separating Hayes' shoulder. On the following night Morgan was hit by a pitch in the 4th inning. Later that night Volstad threw behind Morgan. Incensed by the pitch, Morgan charged the mound, taking a swing at Volstad before being clotheslined by Marlins first-baseman Gaby Sanchez, leading to a bench clearing fight. [12] MLB gave Morgan an eight-game suspension and an undisclosed fine as a result of his actions.

Morgan was also involved in an incident on May 22, 2010 in which he let a drive by Baltimore's Adam Jones pop out of his glove, and instead of picking it up and getting it back into the infield as quickly as possible, Morgan instead decided to spike his glove in anger, while stomping away from the ball. Jones circled the bases for an inside the park home run. Morgan's play cost his team a run, and he was booed by the crowd as he left the field.

The boy struts around like he's really something that everybody needs to see.

I loved seeing him get shot down while stupidly trying to steal third last night and possibly costing his team the win. A guy very easy not to like!

Joey

+2 Joey. Never make the third out trying to steal third.

Giants stomped 'em today 2-1.:) I enjoyed the game along with fresh BBQed salmon!

On to the Whitehouse tomorrow for a meeting with President Obama. I hope Wilson behaves.(snicker).

I still hear talk of trading for Carlos Beltran. We'll see.

Eel

I'd like to see Beltan but will "stand pat" or "as is"(we may be lucky again this season..but never 3 times) and see
Sabian and Giants deal for the real "free agents"(like Fielder!) next season because money alone will keep this pitching staff together much longer without the idea of being a 20 game winner and that will never happen with out run support...
lots of the pitchers contracts up soon...

just my thoughts

Pat Burrell got released, and Brandon Belt got optioned.....again. I don't quite understand that. Belt should change his name to Brandon Bungie Cord. Poor kid.

Eel

Now I am reading that Belt will stay up and Hall will be released. The story on releasing Burrell has been taken down from Extremegiants.com. The freak is starting tonight.

"you guys got Beltran"

So? From a Dodgers fan point of view, do you think that is bad for the Dodgers and good for the Giants?

I've read mixed reviews. We gave up a really talented young minor league pitcher to get him for what appears to be only the rest of the season, 50 games or so. He is on a contract year and has been hurt a lot the past two seasons. Sometimes they say he plays hard, others he has been accused of taking it easy.

My take, lets win it again this year if we can. Beltran's bat will give other Giants hitters better pitches to hit, he seems to be a proven clutch RBI guy, and i hear that he's a quiet guy yet a positive presence in the clubhouse.

Being that we now have him, let's support the guy! Botchy is fired up and he has yet to show me too many instances where he has been wrong. My only reserve being that he has apparently moved Nate the Sure hit holtz out of Right field and into left where 3 other Giants are competing for innings. Nate should be in right field near every game IMO, put Beltran in Left!

Pulling hard for a Giants victory this afternoon. Beat them Phillies!!

Joey

The Phillies hadn't lost two games in a row since late May.:)

It may have been a sweep but we got Zittoed the first game.

Eel

Eel, I like it that you came up with a new term "Zittoed". I played golf yesterday and I Zittoed the 2nd hole. Thanks.

larrbo, LOL. Let me guess. It was a par 5. You were on the green in 2 and 4 putted for a bogey?

I haven't laughed this hard in a long time! Thank YOU!

Eel

LAST EDITED ON Jul-30-11 AT 01:40PM (MST)[p]Eel, you are a spooky dude. Number two on our course is a par five and I was just off of the green in two. I then Zittoed my chip shot over the green and had to chip again. Yes, I did get a bogie....you are good.

GIANTS making some personal moves...welcome Mr Cabrera

TODAYS 1 INNING UGLY!!

HOLY HECK LETS GET THIS BLEEDING STOPPED.......BOTH MY TEAMS ARE ON THE SKIDS..........HEADING TO SF SOON.................YD.

Honest.....I'm not down watching the Giant's, I'm as far away from them as I could get so don't blame it on me.

YD, you can almost pencil Boston in for the playoffs. That's what an offense looks like.

Relax larrbo, nobody is blaming you.....yet.:) goatroper has some 'splainig to do though.:)

I think with the new players, our chemistry is out of whack. I predict we'll work it out. Remember last year at this time?

Eel

Larrbo wasn't kidding when he said that he was as far away as he could get, lol... he's on Vacation in Europe. Larry, Maybe it's just that you're not home. Get back here! :)

Well, i was worried of these 19 games. So far, not so good. I too believe that we'll be OK but seems our opponents are the ones with the timely hits and tough pitching. We'll be OK!!

Joey

THE PHILLIES ARE TUFF.........AND PENCE WAS A GREAT ADDITION TO THEIR TEAM. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE OUR NEW ADDITIONS CATCH FIRE TOO !!!! THANK GOD WE ARE IN A VERY WEAK DIVISION......WHERE ELSE CAN WE LOSE 3 IN A ROW, WIN 2 OUT OF THE LAST 10 AND STILL BE IN 1ST PLACE !!!!!!! PLAY OFFS STILL LOOK GOOD !!!!..........YD.

I have been checking scores everyday and am bummed at the Giant's play this week. We were in Dublin Ireland today and I looked for a four leafed clover....but couldn't find one. Come on Giant's...let's go.

I am Dublin Ca and I found one....

40934-leaf-clovers-a-finders-guide.jpg

THE WORM TURNS ? ?Someone previously downtrodden gets his revenge; an unfavorable situation is reversed. The saying represents an evolution of the old proverb, ?Tread on a worm and it will turn.? The meaning was that even the most humble creature tries to counteract rough treatment. Shakespeare picked up the thought in Henry VI, Part 3, where Lord Clifford urges the king against ?lenity and harmful pity, saying:
To whom do lions cast their gentle looks?
Not to the beast that would usurp their den.
The smallest worm will turn being trodden on,
And doves will peck in safeguard of their brood.??

Go Giants

Why? Did they find a lump....?
Or did the Viagra give a erection that lasted
4 hours or more?

I don't know, maybe it's just because it's such a loooooong season. On paper we're better offensively, but it hasn't showed yet.

Eel

I like the fact that there is a thread here on baseball, just wondering if any of you are Hockey Fans?

YEP..........MY TRIPS TO THE PARK HAVE SLOWED DOWN A TAD AS WELL. HOWEVER I WILL GO AGAIN NEXT WEEK DEPENDING ON THE PITCHING MATCH UPS..............YD.

Eel said, "This is getting painful to watch."

Believe it or not, we are in great shape to again win the Western Division. At a game and a half back and with our very favorable schedule the rest of the season, i be surprised if we don't go on a 8-2 run, or some such, here and tuck it away up under our wing.

Lets see... I'm back, larrbo is back, some of our players are soon to be back and everybody is once again saying that there's no way the Giants can compete with the better teams out there...Yep, we gottem just where we want them!

Joey

OK..I'm all rested up from my trip and ready to watch the Giant's go on a streak to win the west. It needs to start tonight with the long homestand and home cooking. I hope Mike Murphy rubbed some NO Doze on the bats to wake them up.

Joey, tacoman, and larrbo.....don't be running off and leaving me like that! I thought I saw buzzards circling.:)

Eel

ARIZONA PICKED UP A COUPLE OF PLAYERS FROM THE BLUEJAYS, AARON HILL IS ONE OF THEM.......HE CAN BE VERY EFFECTIVE. LETS HOPE THEY DONT CATCH FIRE............YD.

uuuuuggggghhhh.......THIS IS GETTIN SERIOUS.....4 BACK !!!! "WE GOT THOSE DIAMONDBACKS RIGHT WHERE THEY WANT US" !!! IN REALITY THOUGH........THERE IS STILL PLENTY OF TIME LEFT....LETS GO BOYS.............................YD.

We still have some hope left for the rest of the season. As we can see for the month of August the Giant's have been awful. But if you remember from last year they were really bad in August also.....let's hope they start playing like they did last September. A faint ray of hope.

more like a sliver of hope .....I think the starting pitchers have had it with the lack of offense...
I think it done I hate to say ..
were getting weaker and D Back's look stronger!

Hey Larry! Not just you. i can't believe all the stuff that has gone on during this past month and it seemed like most 2-3 month periods. I guess it's OK with me as not really looking forward to another winter.

As a side note, i have a Drs. Appointment in Chico this afternoon for a full basic eye exam. My right eye, only, is blurry and getting worse, kinda like it is infected. This is my "scope eye". As of now, i can't even adjust my bino's to see clearly out my right eye. Hope there's something that they can do.

I love my Giants! Win, lose, or draw, i was with them in the beginning and i'll be there with them at the end. Yes, we would like to see them do better, especially this last month or so, but i'll still be rooting for them to win no matter where they place in the division standings.

That said. let's make it close anyway!

Joey

AMEN to that, Joey, but I'm gonna hold out a bit longer before I throw in the towel! September can hold a couple of streaks for both teams. We can get hot and they can get cold!
What or who, do we have coming up from the farm?

LAST EDITED ON Aug-30-11 AT 09:48PM (MST)[p]The Giants might not win the WS this year. Like Joey, that never stopped me from being a huge fan before, and won't stop me this year either.

No signs of life at this point. I think the injuries and the loss of chemistry is the reason.

It ain't over 'till it's over.

Eel

Edit: I hope you got good news about your eye Joey!

Hey EEL you better watch my China Dodgers they picked up 6 and half games on you guys in in less than 3 weeks.3 weeks to go we be right there.LOL.cowboy57

oh well been a long strange trip indeed...
now I can stay focused on hunting and an operation coming up!!

cowboy57, I've been watching the standings too. The only thing worse than not going back to the playoffs would be finishing behind the Dodgers.:)

Eel

LAST EDITED ON Sep-18-11 AT 03:07PM (MST)[p]Post #77.......has to mean good luck.

NOW the Giants decide to score some runs and look unbeatable.

The Giants play the Dodgers, Arizona and Colorado, to finish the season.

Arizona has to play the Pirates, the Giants, and the Dodgers.

It's possible I could become a huge Dodger fan in the closing days. (gag):)

It ain't over 'till it's over.

Eel

Well fellas, it's time to let that fat lady sing! I'll be the first here to send Congrats to the Arizona Diamondbacks for winning the Western Division of the National League and they'll be my favorite team, at least i'll be pulling for them to do well in the playoffs.

I got a clue about the diamondbacks early in the season when the Giants put a spanking on them, i believe it was in their own park. Their Manager, Gibson, made no excuses. He said that they were beat by a better team that day, a world Champion team, and he'd make strides to see that that didn't happen again. I took note, was impressed with the guy that very day and now, i'm going to wish them well to take it all if they can.

As far as the Giants season, it sure could have been better. We had a good run early on making up games that we'd lost to begin the season. As it turned out, we just didn't have the Chemistry and team makeup, that we had last year, to hold on to the Division lead that we held a good portion of the season. No head hanging here, i'm as proud to be a SF Giants fan now as i was last year after all was said and done. We gave it a good go and there were times where we just couldn't get er done with what we had. That's how it's gonna go most of the time. In the end, we're still winners and the reigning World Champs, i'll be looking forward to seeing what off season personnel changes we make and what we look like playing the game next spring!

Go Giants!!

Joey

had hopes of a dynesty(sp?)

R.I.P 2011 Giants!!

leased like Zito ..(what a WUSSY!)!!

best liked that the big 3 fellowed closely by Bum..

Well, it's sad that the season is over for all of us Giant's fans. I love baseball season and following the Giants'. I got one more thing to say---Pitchers and catchers report in less than five months. Wait til next year....go GIANTS.

Thanks for weighing in guys!

I would also like to congratulate the DBacks, and wish them well in the playoffs. I hope their fans get to experience what we all felt last year. It's something I will never forget.

Our core pitching staff stayed pretty healthy, for the most part. That surprised me. I thought that would be the key to a repeat. It was too many errors and weak offense this year. Vogelsong was a pleasant surprise, and I hope he can contribute next year.

Thanks again guys! We had some highs, some lows, and some laughs. I think we all grew closer, so in a way it was a good season.

Best of luck in all of your upcomming hunts. We have a change in weather comming tonight so I'm headed out the door to chase a buck in the morning. I'll sure be glad when I retire, so I can feel more free to do the hunts right. These old bones get tired easier now. larrbo, I'll join you on the golf course one day soon.
