Garmin gps 64st

Thinking of buying one. The last couple years I used the Montana Hunt map App for Wyoming but most of the time I had no reception on my I phone once I got into the field. Anyone use the 64st?

LAST EDITED ON Jun-10-17 AT 05:07PM (MST)[p]I use a 64st and my wife loves the live track feature when I am hunting alone. She can see exactly where I am on the mountain if I get cell service. Service is a problem at times, but it updates from time to time.

It is a great GPS. I don't trust phone apps. I would rather carry a few AA batteries and go hunt.

I have the Montana, and while it's the best for finding spots from the truck with a great big screen, I really wish I had the Rhino for the field. The two way radio is super strong, and eliminates the need for both devices in the field. You can ping each other as well to know where your hunting partners are at on the map too!!! My buddies have them, and I hate them!!!

I actually had the Rhino's (a few years older model, I'm sure they have improved)and sold them. Anytime I got in a deep canyon I lost reception and could not trust them. I bought the 64s and have never looked back. Way user friendly works great with onXmaps, easy to carry and the biggest reason I went with them is, (to my knowledge/and speaking with Garmin)The 64 currently is one of the few GPS handhelds that can access our GPS system and the Russian Glonass System (No trump jokes please

I have yet to get where reception was lost. I by no means am an expert and I am sure a lot more guys have tried many different systems and have a lot more experience but for me the 64s are great. Easy to use and a pretty good price.
