Last year I posted a pic of what a pellet gun does to an elk shoulder blade. It was an older blade and some believed that's why the pellet went thru. Here's a 3 day old elk shoulder blade, same result. 4 pellets 4.5 grain pellet, 1400fps, clean thru 4 times.
Here's one of those "jacketed" bullets, Hornaday leverevolution 45-70 325grain. 70yds entered just behind the shoulder missing the shoulder meat of a 3yr old bull elk. Slightly quartering towards me, caught 1 lung, stopped against the hide just behind the diaphragm. Bull took 2 steps, layed down and died. Watched another 2yr old bull neck shot with one of those "core lokts" 7mm, 175 grain, 40 yds. Died in its last track.
